Error code 80090016 Trusted Platform Module has malfunctioned.

When I try to add a new Office 365 email to my outlook I get the error below.   I think it's because of my "Work or school account" which I want to remove. I'm not sure how my email was signed up for this second account. I set up this computer for home use only, I won't be using any of the Microsoft Azure features.

My question is, what will happen when I remove my “work account” and leave my Microsoft account?  Everything is backed up on Onedrive, I just don’t know what to expect because when I went to remove it, it warned me about losing data and settings.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

I was facing the same issue and what I have done is just went to the location "C:\users$dir\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.AAD.BrokerPlugin_cw5n1h2txyewy"

and DELETE all files which we can delete . ( in my case I was not able to delete folder named ''AC'' and other things I deleted .)

and after deleting files when you login in back to any one ms office app (say outlook)  you will get access to all ms office apps without any issue .

magic is : when you login with new account all the deleted files will be renewed and you don't have to worry regarding deleted files from the above folder any longer , all files will be recreated with fixing the bug .
