When I try to add a new Office 365 email to my outlook I get the error below.   I think it's because of my "Work or school account" which I want to remove. I'm not sure how my email was signed up for this second account. I set up this computer for home use only, I won't be using any of the Microsoft Azure features.

My question is, what will happen when I remove my “work account” and leave my Microsoft account?  Everything is backed up on Onedrive, I just don’t know what to expect because when I went to remove it, it warned me about losing data and settings.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Open Regedit.MSC with administrator account and navigate to :

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Cryptography\Protect\Providers\df9d8cd0-1501-11d1-8c7a-00c04fc297eb

Afterwards create DWORD (32-bit) Value Key

Rename it with : ProtectionPolicy  and set value to 1

Afterwards try to open affected 365 App it should force it log in page and enroll again.

At this stage Outlook,OneDriveshould work as expected.

After researching this for a while - and finally trying out this solution... it was... actually a solution! Thumbs up! Thanks!

The images you posted did not come through.  Please try to repost as my previous posted solution did not "stick" and I'm back to logging in to my MS Windows and related apps each and every time I reboot.

Hi Mike - thanks in advance for your help - I am frustrated beyond words and have read seemingly 1000s of approaches.  I am ready to try your solution sets above.  That stated, I am a novice as it pertains to admin, setting up/deleting accounts, etc.  And, accordingly, terrified that I will mess up, destroy the machine, erase my work email, etc.  Would it be possible for you to provide a comprehensive step-by-step, including images?  I am most confused by the "Clear the TPM" step as that seems to be very complicated and beyond my acumen.  Thanks!

    Hi

I had the same issue, where a laptop failed to boot and asked for bitlocker key. When entered bitlocker key, i have started having same error messages.

Followed instructions above, cleared tpm, restarted device and it went through initial azure device setup. Did first sign in and voilaaa! All worked just fine.

    Thanks
