Error code 80090016 Trusted Platform Module has malfunctioned.

When I try to add a new Office 365 email to my outlook I get the error below.   I think it's because of my "Work or school account" which I want to remove. I'm not sure how my email was signed up for this second account. I set up this computer for home use only, I won't be using any of the Microsoft Azure features. 

My question is, what will happen when I remove my “work account” and leave my Microsoft account?  Everything is backed up on Onedrive, I just don’t know what to expect because when I went to remove it, it warned me about losing data and settings.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

    If the problems comes up again, you might want to Clear TPM values from within the BIOS, clear the WIndows credentials and Restart

    It's been three days for me with no problem.

    Hope this will last.... :/

    I have rolled back to earlier BIOS firmware. No change alas. Perhaps we should move this issue to other channels (e.g. FB) to get more visibility. There is nothing happening on Microsoft side to solve it.

    Hi Sal,

    Thanks so much for this. I am desperate to fix my ThinkPad laptop and I am going to give it a try.

    Just one point of clarification if I may ask; how do you disconnect a bios battery?

    I agree with your comment about microsoft. As I depend on my PC I am seriosly consider moving to Apple at the first opportunity.

    Hello again

    I logged in to BIOS system settings by pressing F10 when booting the computer

    Went to System menu / BIOS version

    In there HP BIOS can automatically be Updated through network - very simple and quick process

    When the procedure ended and the PC booted, I logged in to Windows and started Outlook without any further annoying messages or prompts to enter password
