Error code 80090016 Trusted Platform Module has malfunctioned.

When I try to add a new Office 365 email to my outlook I get the error below.   I think it's because of my "Work or school account" which I want to remove. I'm not sure how my email was signed up for this second account. I set up this computer for home use only, I won't be using any of the Microsoft Azure features. 

My question is, what will happen when I remove my “work account” and leave my Microsoft account?  Everything is backed up on Onedrive, I just don’t know what to expect because when I went to remove it, it warned me about losing data and settings.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

    Hi All,

    I'm fairly sure this fix has been posted here already but I thought I'd confirm it again here in case it helps anyone else.  I have had about 10 machines with this problem now, always triggered by a recent update to 2004 or 20SH. I've tried pretty much everything that has been suggested on this thread and I've got some mostly working, only for them to get worse with the next update.

    Replacing the users Windows profile is the only thing that has fixed it and it has stayed fixed! It has fixed the issue every time I have done it.  

    My husband works for an MSP and has seen this a lot he has also found that this fix consistently works.  I know it's awkward, and there is some work to be done to make the user at home again, but it really is worth it.

    For me it appears the updates issued by MS over the last couple of days seems to have corrected the problem:

    I believe is was a combination of the firmware and #4598291 update that resolved the issue.  I've logged out, shut down and rebooted at least 6 times over the last couple of days and the TPM seems to be remembering me as "me".  

    Good luck to the rest of the community who experienced this issue over the last 3 months.  Its been more than an annoyance for sure.

    In my case, after two-three days, Outlook asked again for login information and keeps asking after each PC power on.

    No TPM error so far
