Unified Inbox in Outlook 2020?

It still blows my mind that Outlook on Windows dose not have a unified inbox option. Even crazier that the Mac version has had it for quite some time. I went with eM client for my mail app. It has a unified inbox, is much easier to use, much better UI etc. And the free version only has one real limitation which is 2 accounts max. But I use Gmail and Outlook so that's all I need. Other than that it's great, no ads or anything. And of course it has a unified inbox.

If I go to Account Settings and click on the Email tab, I see a list of all the emails I've added to Outlook.  At the bottom is a "Change Folder" button that corresponds with each email address as I click on it.  From what I can tell, I can use this button to send the mail from all of my email addresses to a single inbox.  So, I pick my default Outlook address, which doesn't receive any mail, and all of the emails from all my addresses go to that inbox.

Like the rest of you, I have too many email accounts and want to not only handle them in one place, but maybe move messages from one account to another.

Justin, I'm using Desktop Outlook 365. I don't see a "Change Folder" button in the Account Settings > Email tab. What version do you use? I would love to discover an alternative to the VBA I've been using that now fails to work, because index searches fail to work, I guess because my accounts are IMAP and the messages are not all downloaded.

I have nothing more to add other than my shared annoyance at the lack of this feature. Most of my work emails rely on the security architecture of the 365 platform, so using a third party client isn't ideal.

As a regular user of Outlook on the Mac and PC I have been amazed at this critical feature missing from Outlook on the PC. My recommended workaround is easy and gets you the results in two clicks.

To setup:

• Go into Outlook Options via the Outlook File menu and change the Search>Results option to All mailboxes so it defaults to search all mailboxes. If you don't do this it will always default to current mailbox and you will need to click all mailboxes manually.
• Perform the initial search like for Unread or just search for any email sent to the multiple email accounts you have in Outlook using something like the following:
  • (to:"Your Name" OR cc:"Your Name" OR to:"******@address.you") etc... basically list all the email addresses you use.
• Then right click on Recent Searches and click Add to Quick Access Toolbar. This will add recent searches to the toolbar.

Now anytime you want to see all emails you click the search Icon in the quick access toolbar and select the search (quick access toolbar is the bar always at the top of Outlook that contains the search filed itself.)

The drawback to this method is the search does not seem to auto update and if you perform a lot of other searches your main search may get buried in the list. TIP once you have the search terms you want honed in copy the search query to a draft email so you can copy and paste it again if needed.

I've been using a very similar macro, just without the SendKeys line and it suddenly stopped working properly after cumulative update 20H2 for Win 10 (KB5008212) was applied here. Now it still performs the search when I use the macro but the results only show messages received up to when the update happened.

I can still see the new e-mails on each individual mailbox so Outlook is fetching them, but not adding those messages to the search results. Was something changed on how search works / a new setting I failed to find so far or did something break?
