Though i had to restart Windows Search once while my Index was being rebuild, but it actually finished building now and so far not restarted with indexing process again. If it remains like this, I guess the fix is working. Need to wait for few more days or weeks to know if my Outlook index starts to rebuild again, in which case, we are back to square one!

    Fingers crossed...

    Hi all,

I have been having the same stupid problem for a month now, also started a topic, discussed with customer services specialized. However mighty Microsoft couldn't offer/find any solution for the problem that is caused by themselves, oh god the irony.

Anyway, in accordance with the suggestion above, I excluded the outlook from the indexing and that solved my problem temporarily. You can try that as well.

The worst customer service experiences for the last thirty years, and they do nothing.

Actually, Microsoft did post this very solution. Bleepingcomputer just used the same information. The original is at Outlook Search not showing recent emails after Windows update KB5008212 (microsoft.com)

This worked for me at first, but now it's not getting recent ones again.

The people in support have no knowledge of any of this. They think it must be a problem local to you, but it is a problem with Outlook/Windows.

Over the past couple of months I have done at least two major and long rebuilds, and, as with others, nothing changed.

However I am pleased to say that after the major Windows updates a few days ago, everything now seems to be back to normal and providing results at "lightning fast" speeds. I have done searches on latest emails (which previously did not work) and also old ones, and so far, all results seem to be "perfect".

Sorry, folks. I spoke too soon - I thought that things were working well but now I find that they are not. Whilst some emails over the past few days were able to be found in a search, it is possible that those that hadn't been included in the rebuild, prior to installing the Windows update, have yet to catch up. The one that refused to come up in a search was one received just before I did the Windows Update. I will now review past actions to see if there is anything else that I can do which might provide a fix. I am reluctant to do another rebuild because it is likely to tie up my computer for up to two days.
