How do I move email, calendar, people icons back to bottom of folder pane in Outlook?

I have Office 365 and an update installed today. It updated Outlook and moved my email, calendar, and people icons from the bottom of the folder pane to a separate bar to the left of the folder pane. They also added icons for Office apps. I don't need icons to Office apps in Outlook--if I need to open one of those apps, I'll use the icons in my Windows taskbar. But that's a minor issue. My main issue is that I hate the icons in that bar on the left and want to move them back to the bottom of the folder pane, but I can't figure out how to do that. The rest of my team is also annoyed at the new position, but none of us can figure out how to move that bar. Online help doesn't cover this. I'm talking about the bar outlined in red in the first image below. Does anyone know how to move this back to the bottom of the folder pane? See the other image, which shows where the bar used to be.

If you have all updates installed, you should have 2211 (or higher) -

Go to File > Options > Advanced, and remove the check from the option to Show apps in Outlook. It's at the top - uncheck it to revert the bar to the bottom. Then restart Outlook!

This is only a temporary solution though - so vote for and comment on tone or both of these suggestions - hopefully they will add a permanent solution for people who want to remove it.

Do not change the overrides key if you have the check box in Options (above)

If you don't have the option, you can add a string value named Microsoft.Office.Outlook.Hub.HubBar to the key below and set it to False, then restart Outlook. (It's only a short-term fix, although right now, we don't know how short term.)

Hi all,

The Outlook Team seeing your feedback will be adding a temporary option (snooze option) to put the navigation bar back at the bottom starting in Version 2211 which should release ETA ~November 28, 2022. You can find more in the blog article how this will work in the Nov 9 update, Outlook for Windows: New location for the Mail, Calendar, People, and other modules (microsoft.com).

Another common feedback is that the navigation bar on the left takes up too much precious reading pane space. In the same article Oct 7 update, the Outlook Team made it possible to minimize the folder list/folder pane to regain some of that lost space starting in Version 2210 that just released, Outlook for Windows: New location for the Mail, Calendar, People, and other modules (microsoft.com).

With all the feedback and concern I wanted to make sure you saw these changes.

OMG - THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!! Not a "super" techy but can do enough to be dangerous. Found the Registry Editor by doing a search in my taskbar, followed your string, created the entry and set it to false. Viola! Back to the way it's been for like 20+ years.

People need to stop being cute and changing things just 'cause. Humans are creatures of habit and I can't tell you how annoying having this on the side was. No more! Thank you loads!

It appears that the update has been rolled out and now there is no ability to revert back. There is no Try It Now slider at the top of Outlook. Nice to see that Microsoft hears what the community says, they just don't care. I can understand if you want to give more space to pin other apps, but there are a lot of users that just simply want quick access to Calendars, Contacts and emails and don't care about the other apps. At least give a choice as to where that bar will appear.

No generation should get to the point where understanding technology and how it evolves is beyond them. Technology exists and is designed to make everything easier. If it's not doing that, it is failing.

Nobody is denying MS the right to grow their product. Many of us have been using it since it's introduction in 1990 (and using rather horrific forms of systems prior to that). This product has changed our lives in a massive way, it was truly brilliant and has come a long way. But, as someone who has been using MS for 30+ years, we've seen some doozies when it comes to changes. I believe this is the worst change I have ever seen - extremely impractical and literally prevents me from doing my work. There have been changes that we "get used to" but this one...
- Yesterday, first day of being graced with this "new and innovate way to grow the product", I couldn't even pop over to my calendar to flick through the side calendar months because an annoying current month calendar was hovering in front of it and wouldn't disappear.
- The amount of time it takes me to go right over to the top left panel is extra miliseconds, and they add up. Especially when I expect to be using MS for another 30+ years (God willing).
- I don't have room on my laptop screen to have a useless panel running down the left side. It totally messed with my folders panel and view panels. I have to scroll more now - yep, extra miliseconds adding up.
- If I right-click to edit it, there is no access to edit it.
- This was affecting my productivity in such a detrimental way that I then had to waste precious work time going through youtube and then a loooong Microsoft forum to get an answer. Which I didn't get - my productivity really wasn't great yesterday - thanks Microsoft. And now I'm back on this damn forum on a Saturday to try and fix it before Monday.
- And then I have to read abuse from an ageist. Great, just what I want on a Saturday morning.
AGEIST: characterized by or showing prejudice or discrimination on the grounds of a person's age.

As a MS paying customer for 30+ years, yes I want a choice, and if MS won't give it to me - this could be enough for me to go to a competitor who is free and doesn't try to force not only useless but counterproductive updates upon it's customers. Hello Google.
