How many people can meet in a Microsoft Teams video meeting? Is there a limit to internal and external guests?

If guests join on the web does this limit the number of external guests in a meeting?

Thank you,

Diane

    Hello Tais, and good day.

Yes, we can now see the 9 Live videos, and you are correct, the screens will adjust as to who is speaking.

I have read that MS will look to expand to more than 9 screens, but no dates have been giving.

    I hope that helps.

    Doug

    Hi Doug,

But the max amount of people in that video conference is 20?

    It's a bit confusing with 250 vs 20 participants.

    Hello,

The maximum participants for a MS Teams Meeting is 250. Does not matter if they are video, no video, or call in. You will only see a maximum of 9 live videos, if you have the latest update. All other participant will show below the 9 screens and adjust accordingly, if they start speaking. The participants speaking will take a slot of one one the screens even if they are not using live video at that point in time.

I was just on a MS Teams meeting with more than 20 people and I could see 9 live video screens. If the person starts to speak with no video, it will take up one of the 9 screens.

    I hope that helps.

    Doug

    Hi Doug

I am also a bit confused by the 20 / 250 maximum limits. I work in a college and have recently moved to providing our training via online classrooms. I have a couple of classes where there are more than 20 students who will need to work in a collaborative environment. I have set up separate Teams for each cohort, but need to verify if this means that when the 21st person joins the online session they will only do so in a restricted manner, and would not be able to talk to their class or be seen as one of the participants.

I would be grateful for any advice on this.

    Regards

    David Neale

I've seen news that Microsoft is working to expand capacity from 250 to 1,000.  When is that coming?  I know a ton of organizations, including my own, who are in desperate need of expanding audience size for internal company meetings.  When is this coming?
