How many people can meet in a Microsoft Teams video meeting? Is there a limit to internal and external guests?

If guests join on the web does this limit the number of external guests in a meeting?

    How many members can join a teams meeting conducted by me, if i am not an organizational user and created a teams account for personnel use (like being a free hotmail user).

    Hello Igor.

    Two different platforms.

    MS Teams Meetings have to be a MS Teams account.

    Using MS Live Events however, anyone that you share the link with will be able to view the broadcast. If you want them to be a presenter in your Live Event, than they will need to link their email account to the MS environment and they will need to download the MS Teams client on their own device. No cost involved, just need to setup prior to the event.

    Hello Doug,

    You mention that MS Teams has capacity of 250 internal and/or external attendees. I am interested in external ones. Under external ones I understand those who

    • are not on our MS365 domain or do not have MS365 account
    • are invited to group via link
    • will use MS Teams in browser

    I have customer who want to have a presentation for around 170 people in his organisation which uses WebEx. I would like to use MS Teams as AV communication platform and I am interested if they will be able to join the meeting.

    Is the 250 maximum paid or free and whats the maximum duration of a meeting?

    Hello JimMoz,

    A MS Teams Meeting (Video & Audio), currently has a maximum capacity of 250 participants, including internal and external attendees and I do not know the maximum duration length, however I have been on a meeting for over 20 hours without disruption.

    A MS Teams Live Event (Video & Audio) has a maximum capacity of 10,000 participant, including internal and external attendees and can last up to 4 hours. As of April 30, 2020 and to help during the COVID-19 crisis, MS did temporarily increase the max capacity to 20,000 participants and a duration length of 16 hours. This will end on July 1, 2020
