MAC Outlook can't change display name imap in new version

@EddLeb, I was inclined to do the same but found that emails sent while in New Outlook weren't visible in Old Outlook.

I also use an Outlook Add-In to sync to my CRM (Zoho), and the sync options aren't available in Old Outlook, so this doesn't help.

This is a basic issue Microsoft, so please sort this out!!!!

I just started the transfer of all my mails and accounts from Thunderbird to Outlook for Mac. I thought, starting fresh, there's basically no reason for me not to use the newer version.

Well, after adding 14 IMAP accounts, I wanted to start editing some settings, like changing the "full name". Same issue as described above, it's just not possible.

And now I'm realizing that the older Outlook version completely ignores the accounts and settings of the newer version, so now I have to add all those 14 accounts again?!

Seriously, this is the kind of stuff I wanted to get rid of by switching mail clients. Now I'm seriously considering to cancel my 365 subscription, because I don't see why I should pay for a product that doesn't even offer the most basic functionality. If I can't edit my own name, what's next, will Outlook tell me not to use certain words in mails?

Ugh, super annoying.

Questions for the MS support: Where can we find documentation about what exact settings or other profile data is being preserved when switching from older to newer or vice versa? If I have to experiment, which version works better for me, what's the preferred method of switching between the two versions? Is there some tool that helps to transfer settings, maybe even that lets you decide what to keep and what not?

Really Microsoft? I've been staring at this same issue for well over a year and still no fix for it? I'm trying to like you Microsoft but you're making it really difficult for me to stay in this relationship. No matter what I try, I cannot find any reliable fix to simply change the outgoing name on my emails and there is no where intuitively obvious that I can see to fix it. Deleting and recreating the account doesn't work. But then again, should I really have to go through all that headache to fix something that should work in the first place and that I'm paying for? Get with the program Microsoft.

I have had exactly the same problem. I tried trashing profiles. I tried pulling Outlook all the way out (using AppCleaner) and reinstalling.

The issue seems to be that it is pulling my name from my IMAP server (the university I work for), which is just returning my login name. I can't be emailing people and having it coming from my login name. In fact, even if my employer filled in that field somewhere, it would be in Japanese, and no one I mail with would be able to read it (I already have this problem in Teams).

We need to be able to edit our names, for crying out loud.

I have switched back to the old Outlook until this is fixed. Like others, moving back doesn't even work right. I lose things.

This is a huge mess and needs to be fixed.
