MAC Outlook can't change display name imap in new version

This is really sad but Outlook is not fulfilling the expectations of a mac user.

No identity management

No sync between devices

No "send later"

No answer from Microsoft and no roadmap...

I cannot possibly work properly without these features, I'm going back to Spark mail and Apple mail :/

It is absolutely ridiculous that we can't edit the names, and I look like an idiot sending emails with an email address as the name. Since there's been no response from Microsoft, and this issue continues after a year, I have abandoned Outlook and went back to Apple's Mail, which is less than perfect. I miss some of the Outlook features, but not enough to put up with this fatal flaw.

I can't get that to work. Do you have a step-by-step?

I have just upgrade to Office/Outlook 365 for Mac and I cannot believe that the personal information in the email account cannot be changed and that users are forced to send an email with their email address as the "sender" and not their name. This is an utter mess Microsoft and needs to be fixed urgently.

I too deleted my email account and reinstated it and it makes no difference.

Microsoft, you need be refunding all Australians for this completely deficient software. I don't know what is going on in other countries but seriously this is bad. I am now stuck where I cannot send emails in my own name. I have also had all other archived emails wiped out of outlook when I upgraded which I am hoping I can recover.

On the basis that you have failed to inform users of this serious deficiency, I am contacting the ACCC and lodging a formal complaint. This was raised more than a year ago on this platform and still has not been resolved. This is just entirely unacceptable.

The fact that users cannot change their display name within Outlook is, quite frankly, inexcusable in the year 2022. We were able to do this with various email platforms in the 1990s. And platforms such as Gmail allow us to do this right now. So, why not Outlook?

We should be able to edit the First and Last names simply by going to Preferences, clicking the email account, and typing in the First and Last name that we need. That functionality is nonexistent in both Outlook mobile AND desktop for Mac (both Office 365).

Please note that this is especially a problem for professional-businesses-domain IMAP accounts that end up having their email address appear as the display name, when it should be the sender's name that appears. That is, the sender's First and Last name do not import into Outlook when you add the account to Outlook; instead, the email address appears where the First and Last name should appear. I have used all of the workarounds that I know of in order to try and replace the email address with a First and Last name, but nothing works.

The only thing that will solve this problem is if Microsoft updates both the desktop and iOS versions of Outlook so that the First and Last names are EDITABLE.
