hi- how to do this? please explain step by step ? thank you.

    • Tools > Accounts
    • Click on IMAP account, then click the minus sign at the bottom to remove it (if it's not there yet, skip this step)
    • Click plus sign
    • Enter email address for IMAP account (if it automatically configures and doesn't take you to the "Choose the provider for" screen, then enter a fake email address like ******@asdflkjlj.com, you can fix it later)
    • On the "Choose the provider for" screen, turn off the Sync with Microsoft Cloud switch
    • Click IMAP
    • Enter the email address, password, and incoming and outgoing server address (and port numbers, if required)
    • Under incoming server address, choose "Use SSL to connect"
    • Under outgoing server address, choose "StartTLS"
    • Click "Add Account"
    • After the account is accepted, change the Full Name in the Accounts window

    Hope this helps.

I finally came up with a solution to this by removing the IMAP account, and adding it back by turning off the "Sync with Microsoft Cloud" switch, above the various mail protocols, before I clicked IMAP. In that state, I had difficulty getting it to accept the account (I was connecting to a hosted Exchange server via IMAP, since New Outlook doesn't yet support non-365 Exchange), but was finally able to get it to go by choosing "Use SSL" for incoming server and "StartTLS" for the outgoing server. Once the IMAP account was added without Microsoft Sync, I was able to go to Tools > Accounts, and set the full name.

(Of course, switching back to non-New Outlook works too.)

    It's working. Thanks!!

This worked for me!!! Thank you so much!

Spent I don't know how many days to try to solve it.

People if you have the same issue, just do the following:

    1. Start adding new account and enter your email, as described above.
    2. On the 2nd page, where it notifies that its syncing with MS Cloud, press "not IMAP?" on the right up corner.
    3. On next page toggle off syncing with MS Cloud - it's possible here - and choose IMAP.

When the account is added the Full name field must be editable.

My version of MS Outlook for Mac - 16.70.

    Hope that helps!
