Family calendar not showing up

I have a Microsoft Family.  My wife and I are "organizers".  There is a Family Calendar.  I can see it on my iPad MS outlook app, on my iPhone MS Outlook App, at Outlook.com from a PC web browser.  But, I cannot see it (it's just not there!) in the Calendar app for Win 10.  My wife cannot see it on any device.  Why?

The family calendar in Outlook.com has moved to a new Outlook.com groups calendar. This change added the ability to invite others to family group events and to use a shared family email address.

The calendar is fully supported on Outlook.com and the Outlook mobile app but is no longer supported in other applications like the Windows 10 Mail app, the Outlook desktop app, as well as some third-party apps. None of your existing events or information were affected in the move.

We know that many of you would like to use your family calendar from other places and are actively investigating the best way to expose the calendar to a wider range of apps.  You can find more details about this change and how to use the new calendar here: Use shared family calendars in Outlook.com.

Hello Everyone,

We want to give a quick update on this issue and how were working to resolved it. We're in the final stages of testing to restore access to your family group calendar in the calendar app on windows, outlook desktop and the native clients on iOS and Android devices. If testing goes well, we hope to be able to release this update to you in early 2021. We understand how frustrating this is and appreciate your continued patience.

Hello and Happy New Year!

We have some good news to share – we're starting to release the updates to the family group calendar that were mentioned earlier in this thread. This update will make the family calendar available in the same applications as the old calendar such as the Calendar app on Windows, Outlook on Desktop, and the native clients on iOS and Android.

Thank you again for your feedback and patience, we’re excited to get this out so that you can continue getting the most use out of your calendar and keeping your family’s schedules organized. Let us know what you think in this thread when you get a chance to try it!

Hello Everyone,

Thank you for all the feedback and patience, we have collated the top questions to provide more clarity.

  1. When will the update be released ? It is rolling out now.  However, we are doing it slowly to make sure we don’t introduce any new issues. Rest assured we’re doing our best to get it to you as quickly as we can.
  2. How would user know the capability being restored ? If you can see your family calendar in the Windows 10 Mail app or any other place you had used it previously, you have the update! You can also tell in Outlook.com as your family calendar will move to the “other calendars” area in the left nav. Please note once you have the update some Family members may receive the calendar ahead of others by a few days.
  3. Is there user action to be done to restore feature / update ? No action is required on your part?– the update will happen in the background.

Hello Everyone,

As some of you have noticed, we recently released the calendar update to a wider audience. We learned a lot from our initial rollout and will continue to monitor the forums and our internal metrics to make sure everything looks good.~~~~

We’re continuing to increase the percentage of folks who have the update and if all goes according to plan, we’re hoping to get it into everyone’s hands in the next couple of weeks.

Thank you again for your feedback and let us know what you think in this thread when you get a chance to try it!

Wow, I've been subbed to this thread since Sep 2020, and check iOS and macOS default calendar apps almost daily to check if this is working again, and  today, it has!! 🎉

I can see it on my phone, and mac and i am absolutely over the moon! It's appeared for outlook.com, and also live.com email addresses concurrently, so i assume it is somehow 'tied' to the Office365 account/tenant, will check my wife's phone shortly, but i'm confident it will be there also. Added an item on my phone, there it is on the computer, happy days!

Curiously though, the 'Your family' calendar is still listed under 'Other calendars, and is also still a family group (i think).. i can't 100% remember the functionality or naming as it was previously, but what we have now seems to be a hybrid between the previous functionality and when it broke.

Slightly worrying is the 'remove' option that i dare not select.. 👀

It's the same calendar as before, as all of the events are still there - nice! 👍🏻

well, I believe this forum topic covers a multitude of issues Microsoft created in their wisdom to change/break the way family calendars work.

My main issue - as with a lot of people here including the poster I replied to - was that the family calendar was not showing up the Outlook PC / desktop program.  I saw MS were rolling out slowly but it was not appearing, so I decided to try to manually update office - which indeed "restored" the feature in outlook desktop for me.

So I was just sharing a fix that hopefully may help some people.  And then I answered your question to explain the fix in more detail.  Sorry it didnt help you but feel free to ignore if you dont find it relevant to your issue.
