Outlook Android app cannot login IMAP email server.

This suddenly started yesterday 3/4/2020.

I have 3 email accounts on my android Outlook app. Outlook.com, Google, my ISP's. The problem only happens with my ISP (comcast.net, IMAP).

Till yesterday night, I can send/retrieve emails from the same server without an issue with Outlook app.

First I noticed Outlook requested to re-enter email password. But it failed. So I deleted account, then added. Failed. I even removed Outlook app and re-installed it. Failed. Google and Outlook account are just fine.

I didn't change anything from my side. I can access Comcast email from Web/Windows 10 mail and even from the same phone using Samsung standard email app.

What was changed and how to solve it? I can use Samsung standard email app but I like Outlook.

There is new update according to the Google Play: Updated October 15, 2020. Has anyone tried whether the IMAP is fixed (including the IMAP port and notifications)?

Is just avoiding an error by not stating a secure port a real solution?

This seems to me like turning off the lights of my car in the night, because I don't want to see that one light got broken.

How can I be sure to get a secure connection, when I am not able to definitely configure secure ports?

Isn't Microsoft interested in its users knowing themselves secured?

If your mailserver is 'actual' like our linux servers, a user can not connect with non SSL/TLS communication. We have all security active (DKIM, SFP, DANE (TLSA) TLS 1.2 and 1.3 with only secure Ciphers. We disabled TLS 1.0 and 1.1.

And with this serverside settings Outlook Android works.

You can check the security of your server with https://internet.nl . JHust fill in the domain in the e-mail box. You get a very extended report in about 30-60 seconds. And tips to improve also !

    Hi!

    Thank you for that link.

I tested the domain of a big, popular e-mail provider - GMX.

    Please find test results attached.

If I am interpreting the results the right way, the server configuration should be okay.

While i.e. the GMail App works fine with my IMAP accounts, the Outlook App does not.

    This is very irritating.

    Kind regards,

    Gerald

I reinstalled Outlook yesterday (v4.2039.2) but this did not fix my IMAP issues.

Anyone found detailed release notes for the October 15th update?  I'm interested to know what may have been fixed, if anything.
