Outlook Android app cannot login IMAP email server.

This suddenly started yesterday 3/4/2020.

I have 3 email accounts on my android Outlook app. Outlook.com, Google, my ISP's. The problem only happens with my ISP (comcast.net, IMAP).

Till yesterday night, I can send/retrieve emails from the same server without an issue with Outlook app.

First I noticed Outlook requested to re-enter email password. But it failed. So I deleted account, then added. Failed. I even removed Outlook app and re-installed it. Failed. Google and Outlook account are just fine.

I didn't change anything from my side. I can access Comcast email from Web/Windows 10 mail and even from the same phone using Samsung standard email app.

What was changed and how to solve it? I can use Samsung standard email app but I like Outlook.

My MWeb also works except without security on both incoming or outgoing servers.

I just found, that now TLS/SMTPS is broken. STLS/587 works.

Sorry, seriously, the product manager of the android app and the sw engineers have apparently no clue about their SSL implementation. I mean, it's certainly a challenging topic, but I expected Microsoft to have better engineers here. Apparently not!

Update; Microsoft Sync Technology in the App does understand "changes". You will need to fully delete your current account and recreate it in the app, using the correct Credentials and TLS-Instructions (STLS or TLS).

Bug: Microsoft needs to allow amendments on MS Sync technology using the app, to i.E. switch from ports 587 to 465 or 143 to 993. Apparently the MS Sync technology is very static when it comes to the apps.

Summary: Microsoft wanted to make things "easier" for people, but Microsoft's definition of easy it IT Crowd's paradigm of switching off and on again, just like the old Windows times, where a reboot was a good treatment for flaky Microsoft product behaviours.

Clearly, the times, where the user had to enter credentials and service instructions on his own, were maybe complicated (once), but easier to maintain. Today, Microsoft created a solution to enforce MS Support engineers, who have no clue at all, to interact with you, sending tons of diagnostic data, just to find out the service credentials needed to be amended.

Sorry, Microsoft, wrong approach. This is not easier, this is simply stupid and short-term thinking, because they way to resolve this is clearly inefficient and ineffective. We understand, that you want to bind customers. We, the customers, to whom product managers should listen, are annoyed.

Get back the direct connection dialogues for the customers to leave customization to them, not you.
