Outlook Android app cannot login IMAP email server.

This suddenly started yesterday 3/4/2020.

I have 3 email accounts on my android Outlook app. Outlook.com, Google, my ISP's. The problem only happens with my ISP (comcast.net, IMAP).

Till yesterday night, I can send/retrieve emails from the same server without an issue with Outlook app.

First I noticed Outlook requested to re-enter email password. But it failed. So I deleted account, then added. Failed. I even removed Outlook app and re-installed it. Failed. Google and Outlook account are just fine.

I didn't change anything from my side. I can access Comcast email from Web/Windows 10 mail and even from the same phone using Samsung standard email app.

What was changed and how to solve it? I can use Samsung standard email app but I like Outlook.

    Not that they acknowledged. I 'reminded' them that the account was there, but no response yet.

    In case this helps , 

    I have OfA Support an IMAP account to work with.  They report that, using version 4.2045. 2, it worked. I tried setting it up again on my device. I still get Login Error. They suggested that I login anyway, rather than "cancel". I did and get a perpetual Downloading Your Message .   Same problem I have with my own IMAP account. Their response is, 

    "we have checked the account and the test confirms that this is an account issue, it can be with the login info or the server settings.

    We can't do anything about that.

    Please let me know if you have any other questions." 

    Then, I pointed out that they were able to add the account.  I asked what settings they used and what version of OfA. The reply was, 

    " I have the same version as you.

    Once I get the error message about the certificate, I tap on "Login" and it works.

    I confirm again that your account can't work correctly as the test that we have made is failed.

    We can't do anything about that, you can check that with your provider.

    Please let me know if you have any other questions."

    I have now requested screenshots of the settings they used .   No answer yet. Please let me know if you have any other questions. 

    Support did not send screenshots.  Instead, they wrote, 

    " Hi, I didn't use advanced settings, only email address, and password.

    The account can be added but it will not work correctly, maybe you will not receive emails or you will have slowness to receive and send emails.

    The test that we have done confirms that the account will not work here.

    Please let me know if you have any other questions"

    That didn't help me.  For me, using simple settings resulted in the same outcome. I then asked the OfA support agent if he or she knows anyone on the team that is using an IMAP service that works.  The reply is that they use IMAP and there are many users with IMAP account who have no issue.  I then asked what third party IMAP email service has been working for these folks, one that I can subscribe to.  The agent answered, "I'm sorry but we can't help you with that.  Please accept my apologies. and let me know if you have any other questions."

    I gave the latest version try, but it is even more broken than it was before the October 9 update:

    • New email push notifications doesn't work at all
    • Sending email doesn't work, email is stuck "sending"
    • Manual checking for new message works, but it always displays "read more messages" link.

    IMAP-Port: 993

    SMTP-Port: 587

    Symptoms:

    • No Push-Notification
    • Incoming e-mails are being synchronized, but message appears every time: "Please login to [e-mail account]".
    • Outgoing e-mail: "Sending" for a quite long time; then displayed in folder "Sent", but the e-mail doesn't get to the receipient. Actually it is in folder "Drafts" when I check the account via webmail.

    I would be willing to help fixing OfA, as well as surely many others.

    Why does Microsoft not make use of such a valuable ressource?
