Outlook Android app cannot login IMAP email server.

This suddenly started yesterday 3/4/2020.

I have 3 email accounts on my android Outlook app. Outlook.com, Google, my ISP's. The problem only happens with my ISP (comcast.net, IMAP).

Till yesterday night, I can send/retrieve emails from the same server without an issue with Outlook app.

First I noticed Outlook requested to re-enter email password. But it failed. So I deleted account, then added. Failed. I even removed Outlook app and re-installed it. Failed. Google and Outlook account are just fine.

I didn't change anything from my side. I can access Comcast email from Web/Windows 10 mail and even from the same phone using Samsung standard email app.

What was changed and how to solve it? I can use Samsung standard email app but I like Outlook.

    Hey Henk,

One of the other areas I couldn't work out was the AutoDiscover processing.

I was unsure it was even being used.

But you can suffix the port onto the server address: mail.server.com:993

I've tried that, but just had a different variation on the logon error.

    Cheers

    Paul

We host our own server for multiple clients. The autodiscover is set up to the server address. This works.

Just entering the port should not be enough. Should this port use SSL or TLS?

But why do I get an error from a Microsoft server? We do not use that server. And that server is not in any MX setup configuration for that domain. Strange and undocumented.

And why can I not explicit input the servers, ports and protocols in the app? This also indicates that the account is routed through microsoft servers that possibly run the autodiscover to connect my android app. Or can you deny this behavior? Why are there then errors from Microsoft servers?

On our servers all security is installed, SSL, DKIM, TLSA (DANE) and more. So that should not be an issue. We get 100% security on internet.nl and other testing machines.

I have the same issue with Outlook on my Samsung Note . It sucks that Microsoft cannot fix the issue. So much for the collaboration between Microsoft and Samsung. My solution: Use TypeApp!

    I finaly got it.

You have to press the question mark (?) at right top to get the settings menu (strange since this is not windows user interface compliant), but there you can enter the server settings.

All SSL/TLS and working with TLS 1.2 and 1.3.

For the IMAP server you just enter the servername, no port !

For the SMTP server you enter the servername:587 or servername:465.  Also, WITH the port

Then it worked again for me !

    *THIS WAS IT*

I was trying all sorts of ways to re-connect back to my Network Solutions IMAP account.  I updated the Outlook app on Android (Galaxy S9+) and ran into the dreaded "message has no content" bug.  So I uninstalled Outlook, reinstalled and added back all of my email accounts.  Except I had problems with the IMAP.  I was adding a port for both the IMAP and SMTP servers and it wouldn't work (mail.domain.com:143 & smtp.domain.com:587).  However, if I left the port off the IMAP server, but kept it on the SMTP server it finally worked!

    Thank you Henk!

    -Tal.

Connecting to IMAP still not possible with Outlook for Android version 4.2039.2

None of the suggestions in this thread is working.

@development team: Please focus on fixing that serious error - thank you very much in advance!
