Outlook Android app cannot login IMAP email server.

This suddenly started yesterday 3/4/2020.

I have 3 email accounts on my android Outlook app. Outlook.com, Google, my ISP's. The problem only happens with my ISP (comcast.net, IMAP).

Till yesterday night, I can send/retrieve emails from the same server without an issue with Outlook app.

First I noticed Outlook requested to re-enter email password. But it failed. So I deleted account, then added. Failed. I even removed Outlook app and re-installed it. Failed. Google and Outlook account are just fine.

I didn't change anything from my side. I can access Comcast email from Web/Windows 10 mail and even from the same phone using Samsung standard email app.

What was changed and how to solve it? I can use Samsung standard email app but I like Outlook.

Outlook Mobile Support (for me, on Android) insisted it was not Outlook.  I ended up going to O365 Support using my Microsoft Complete support Plan, purchased with my Surface Duo.  So, this may not be at-all relevant to others here.  I was asked to uninstall and re-install the app.  Once done, setting up the IMAP account resulted in something new.

After entering the settings, we encountered Login Error.  The mail server certificate is invalid, or something to that effect.  I could cancel setup or continue to login.  Continuing to login results in Downloading Your Email that, overnight, would not complete.

I googled 'email server certificate'.  It appears to have nothing to do we us the users, and our setup information.  The certificate appears to me something that Microsoft has to register, I assume with some industry accepted registrar and that the email service provider must refer to to ensure secure connections.  So, I have asked my service provider to double check whether or not they are referencing the latest list of certificates.  I have advised Outlook Mobile Support of this and an awaiting a reply.

No, I ended up with BlueMail as I don't believe Microsoft will ever fix the broken IMAP in Outlook. Their support is terrible.

Outlook Mobile Support has now, after denying it many times, admitted that there is a problem with Outlook Mobile for Android.  Microsoft's engineers are aware of the problem. When they fix it, the fix will automatically deploy.   No commitment on when they will fix it. I don't think I'll be around to notice a fix.

That's a good message, thanks! But it also indicates they have zero quality assurance, because the issue can be reproduced within one hour easily. I'll wait till next year and may try it again. The BlueMail supports multiple identities (aliases) on IMAP account which is another feature I miss in Outlook for Android. The only BlueMail issue is very unreliable notifications.
