Outlook Android app cannot login IMAP email server.

This suddenly started yesterday 3/4/2020.

I have 3 email accounts on my android Outlook app. Outlook.com, Google, my ISP's. The problem only happens with my ISP (comcast.net, IMAP).

Till yesterday night, I can send/retrieve emails from the same server without an issue with Outlook app.

First I noticed Outlook requested to re-enter email password. But it failed. So I deleted account, then added. Failed. I even removed Outlook app and re-installed it. Failed. Google and Outlook account are just fine.

I didn't change anything from my side. I can access Comcast email from Web/Windows 10 mail and even from the same phone using Samsung standard email app.

What was changed and how to solve it? I can use Samsung standard email app but I like Outlook.

I fully concur with your assessment.

On numerous occasions when I have pointed out the errors, I was immediately informed that it was not Outlook app, but my ISP. Also on every occasion I had to listen to a lesson of how to input new account details.

After I analysed this issue to its bitter end, it is obvious that the App is faulty. No supporter can argument around that, especially since the App has been updated to allow the selection of the TLS/STLS types.

Clearly, this is not an ISP, not MSP nor account issue.

The Outlook App for Android is buggy and we can even say, what exactly is buggy. So, where is the product owner to take this issue now?

SSL/TLS working on 993, but STARTTLS on 143 broken, because of invalid commands sent. Selecting STLS+143 in the server prefs does not fix that.

Sorry, Microsoft, but this is simple amateurish work and your android/Outlook app product manager should be fired because of failing in his job.

Start testing your product on your own instead of making end users do your beta testing, this is unprofessional and hire better people!

There was a silent update of the Outlook Android App and I can now see a "Security type" Dropdown when setting up a server connection.

Just check yourself, if you can now see those options (Starttls, tls, none) for both, imap and smtp.

    App Ver. 4.2143.4

UPDATE: Default settings when selecting Security types (TLS, STLS) are fine except that STLS for SMTP should be 587, not 465. The product manager of the app is definitely sleeping and not testing at all or doesn't know.
