Outlook Android app cannot login IMAP email server.

This suddenly started yesterday 3/4/2020.

I have 3 email accounts on my android Outlook app. Outlook.com, Google, my ISP's. The problem only happens with my ISP (comcast.net, IMAP).

Till yesterday night, I can send/retrieve emails from the same server without an issue with Outlook app.

First I noticed Outlook requested to re-enter email password. But it failed. So I deleted account, then added. Failed. I even removed Outlook app and re-installed it. Failed. Google and Outlook account are just fine.

I didn't change anything from my side. I can access Comcast email from Web/Windows 10 mail and even from the same phone using Samsung standard email app.

What was changed and how to solve it? I can use Samsung standard email app but I like Outlook.

It seems to me that Microsoft are now focussed on Azure Cloud computing and professional services.  The Consumer space is no longer a priority, and when it comes to Mobile they have even less interest.

I can confirm all your analysis of certificates and TLS versions with my ISP, yet OfA still fails to authenticate/connect.  It's a mystery to me why all OfA users are not affected by this problem.

In any event, I gave up on a fix some months ago despite the regular updates.  And I agree that BlueMail, GMail and other email clients work flawlessly with the same configuration.

The absense of any effective support is beyond frustrating.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. They definitely have less interest in their Mobile apps. Reminds me of their stint with Windows Phones. Started with enthusiasm then they let them die a miserable death.

Earlier in the year, they changed their Outlook App support format/platform and now it's a disaster.

I once again posted a support request re IMAP and it is now 11 days and they haven't acknowledged my request or replied!

Outlook app support was previously far more effective!

I can recall a support request that got handled quickly, effectively and it reached Level 3 Engineering communicating directly with me.

State of affairs now is So Bad.

I have been battling with this issue for almost a year now. I had my ISP in a spin, testing all their settings, certificates, TLS versions etc only to ascertain that all their settings were in order.

    Certification is up to date

    TLS version is 1.2 upwards

    All ports operational

They even examined all my email addresses in case they had a problem.

All tested OK! No issues whatsover - only with Outlook for Android!

I then decided to test everything with a alternative email app - BlueMail.

    And was I pleasantly surprised?

    It worked perfectly!

Both my ISP accounts that Outlook Android app had issues with, worked perfectly - seamlessly.

They both accepted my imap, smtp and port numbers immedietly, connected the accounts and send and receive without any issues.

I wonder why can't the Outlook Android app work like that?

If Outlook for dektop can, then what is the issue with the Outlook app for Android?

Do yourselves a favour - try BlueMail! (and I was an Outlook Android fan)

This started yesterday and now I dont have my work email on my phone. I am trying to figure out how to fix this. I have all the steps above and even contact support, yet nothing is working.

Does anyone have a different solution?

I am extremely disappointed in Microsoft over this issue. It has been ongoing for more than 5 years now and they still have not added a field for setting SSL when adding an email account to the Outlook app for Android. I don't get it?
