Outlook Android app cannot login IMAP email server.

This suddenly started yesterday 3/4/2020.

I have 3 email accounts on my android Outlook app. Outlook.com, Google, my ISP's. The problem only happens with my ISP (comcast.net, IMAP).

Till yesterday night, I can send/retrieve emails from the same server without an issue with Outlook app.

First I noticed Outlook requested to re-enter email password. But it failed. So I deleted account, then added. Failed. I even removed Outlook app and re-installed it. Failed. Google and Outlook account are just fine.

I didn't change anything from my side. I can access Comcast email from Web/Windows 10 mail and even from the same phone using Samsung standard email app.

What was changed and how to solve it? I can use Samsung standard email app but I like Outlook.

The update that rolled out 11/11/2020 Version: 4.2044.1 (42044813) seems to have finally rectified the issue. My personal email (imap) setup correctly. It is a South African email provider account and it is not related to the ms conglomerate at all.

I set it up with the advanced settings with no port for imap BUT the service provider port for the smtp. Log in was quick and messages and folders quickly downloaded.

I will monitor and update here

It seems the latest update of the Android Outlook app solved the issue for some people. But others, including me, keep having the same problem. Are there any updates and can we expect progress on this, or will I be forced to switch to another email app for my IMAP account?

    Thanks

    Christoph

We have the same problems on multiple phones with the Outlook app.

However. Our mailserver uses TLS 1.2 and only valid excryption keys are enabled! Even the order is correct.

And my phone (Pixel 4) stopped at Monday last week. My partners phone (iPhone XS) stoppend on Friday connecting to the same IMAP server. The server supports both TLS and SSL on 465 and 587 and 993 IMAP. But the Outlook app does not give the option to input these. The auto config script on the server is not processed. And in the server log I can see that the app is connecting aq Microsoft IP address and not the domain of the mailserver that I entered. Is all encrypted communications of the Outlook app relayed through MS servers? That is what it looks like!

And to my surprise, the ? at top right is SETTINGS that normally should be a wheel in applications (even Windows itslef!)
