Outlook Android app cannot login IMAP email server.

This suddenly started yesterday 3/4/2020.

I have 3 email accounts on my android Outlook app. Outlook.com, Google, my ISP's. The problem only happens with my ISP (comcast.net, IMAP).

Till yesterday night, I can send/retrieve emails from the same server without an issue with Outlook app.

First I noticed Outlook requested to re-enter email password. But it failed. So I deleted account, then added. Failed. I even removed Outlook app and re-installed it. Failed. Google and Outlook account are just fine.

I didn't change anything from my side. I can access Comcast email from Web/Windows 10 mail and even from the same phone using Samsung standard email app.

What was changed and how to solve it? I can use Samsung standard email app but I like Outlook.

Success.  Eventually.  I had previously tried using advanced settings and configuring the server and ports manually because when IMAP connectivity was lost last time (after March updates) it was the only way to get it working again.  This time, I again tried the manual configuration and also tried just selecting IMAP and not specifying ports.  This did not initially work when I tried it immediately after a failed manual configuration.

However I was able to connect using just the basic IMAP configuration without going into the advance settings, but only after I closed Outlook and restarted the phone.  Keep in mind I had tried this configuration at least twice before without luck.  It almost seems like if you try a configuration and it fails, it does not reset or clear connection / cache without a restart.

Log onto outlook.com. go into security. Go to where you can generate a Secure password for various mail apps.Copy and paste that password into your app of choice.

If SSL/TLS (secure mail) is active or available, port 993 (IMAP) of 995 (pop) are automaticaly used.

We're running in a circle. I'd rather rather have it unavailable for a moment than have a single unecrypted connection attempt sending my plain password because I can not specify the port in the stupid app to make sure the encrypted connection will be used **only.  In case the app would choose the unecrypted port my password is revelaled and must be immediately changed.**The cost of changing the password and reconfiguring all other clients is too high.

Question again, do new email push notification work?

Do NOT enter the port for IMAP (see my earlier message on okt 11th). Only for SMTP enter the port.

I don't like it as it want to prevent to use the unsecure port 143 instead of 993. I'd have to change password and update settings on all devices if the port 143 was (mis)used, just because of broken Microsoft application.

    Do push notifications works?

If SSL/TLS (secure mail) is active or available, port 993 (IMAP) of 995 (pop) are automaticaly used.

Sometimes you get the question 'trus all certificates'. That happens only when the server is missing the certificate that belongs to the maildomain. It will fall back to the certificate on a higher level (the mailserver itself).

Only enter a port with SMPT. That is 465 (SSL) or 587 (STARTTLS, TLS). Both are secure encrypted communications.

It works with settings I described earlier.

    Including new message notifications?
