My outlook ribbon's font size is suddenly massive. How do I change it back to a reasonable size like the rest of the app?

I tried changing app text size settings on my computer but this shrunk everything else. I just want to reduce the size of the RIBBON ONLY in my outlook app. No clue why this has happened.

As you can see below, the ribbon is very large but the rest of the app is normal, as it should be. Please help.

Here is a crazy fix that I found...

Seems that when you start Outlook the Ribbon is an inconsistent font to that of the Calendar (which in my case was the correct font). The fix:

  • Open Calendar in a NEW window (right click on the calendar icon on the bottom left of the Outlook form - choose "Open in New Window")
  • Close the Outlook Mail Window. This will leave the Calendar window the only active Outlook window
  • On the Calendar Window - Right Click on the Envelope icon and choose "Open in New Window"

Your font will be restored back to the smaller font..

Crazy but true!!

Remember - if you can't explain it - Feature it!!

    Hi all,

    If you have the Outlook option (Help, Contact Support), please open an In App ticket for the Outlook Team to investigate this further. This support option is not available to everyone yet. It is available to all Office Insiders and M365 Tenant Admins. If you are not Insider or Tenant Admin we might be able to turn the support option on but I would need to coordinate with you through moderation.

    This is not an issue I have seen us investigate yet but Outlook is working on some separate rendering issues that causes folders to appear to overlap in the left navigation and the ribbon. Maybe it will help with this issue too. The fix is in development so no ETA yet for when it will get to production.

    I have the same issue from time to time. FRS...Fickle Ribbon Syndrome.

    I work with three monitors and dragging Outlook from one to another and then back again worked for me. I noticed Word on one of the others had the ribbon sized correctly and gave it a try.

    Thank you, thank you! I read through dozens of "official" answers and nothing helped or worked (or for that matter was even an option for me to select). This worked after my ribbon inexplicably became so small I couldn't see anything!
