Outlook app draining battery

I tried to post a question to this thread:

However the 'reply' seems to be greyed out when I try. So to continue...

When I press the 'battery' button on my Samsung android phone, it consistently says the outlook app is eating 60% of battery power. Similar to the last question in the previous thread; can microsoft advise please:-

a) when a fix for this will be published please? or

b) recommend an equivalent non microsoft product that works well connecting to outlook.com that doesn't voraciously eat battery power?

Any help is appreciated.

    Same here. I've removed Outlook and switched back to gmail.

    Load average on my android phone fell back from ~11 to ~3-4 (when idle).

    I've installed Outlook again, but problems with high CPU usage came back, so I removed again. I will not be trying anymore.

    I'm having the same issues. My S8 reports that the Outlook app is responsible for 16% of battery usage, while never being the active app!

    This does seem to be something recent, but I'm unsure since when it started happening. It might be a recent app update, it also might be since the Oreo update got installed on my device.

    For now switching back to the stock app seems to be the only reasonable solution.

    Yikes... I noticed this quite recently, the last few 4-5 weeks, but it finally became intolerable this week. After throwing every app in the world under the bus it turned out it was the Outlook.com App draining 20% of the battery on my Galaxy S7 Edge. Keeping my phone warm and pegging the CPU. I gotta say there has to be a bug here. I have had it or its predecessor for years.

    Although it's a nice looking app it's redundant for me. I only used it to get around the problem of my Samsung/Android e-mail constantly notifying me about new junk mail if I dared to open that folder using the built in mail.

    Maybe one day it will be fixed.

    EDIT: Just as an aside. It appears I had two different outlook apps installed. Outlook and Outlook.com. I can't remember which one replaced the other, but they are both gone now.

    When I enabled App Permissions under security, Outlook started to prompt me in an infinite loop to allow it to access contacts and whenever I gave the permission it asked again, so it looks, that if contacts sync is enabled Outlook keeps spamming the contact list with sync. I disabled the contact sync on my outlook account and it seems that cpu usage is now lower, and also some guy from another forum said that this fixed his battery draining issue. I hope this will fix it, otherwise I'll stop using it as well. Shame on you Microsoft -.-
