Outlook app draining battery

I tried to post a question to this thread:

However the 'reply' seems to be greyed out when I try. So to continue...

When I press the 'battery' button on my Samsung android phone, it consistently says the outlook app is eating 60% of battery power. Similar to the last question in the previous thread; can microsoft advise please:-

a) when a fix for this will be published please? or

b) recommend an equivalent non microsoft product that works well connecting to outlook.com that doesn't voraciously eat battery power?

Any help is appreciated.

    Removed Outlook-- replaced with Bluemail.  Perfect.

    My solution was to switch to BlueMail. Excellent account switching, GUI and calendar. Still has the problem that about 30 000 contacts from our Dynamics CRM gets synced.

    I have the same issues as many here, i.e. Outlook is draining my battery out on Android smartphone. Using "OS Monitor" App I can see up to 20% of the CPU used. But I also found a short term cure : if I disable contact sync, Outlook and also Google Play services use a lot less CPU and battery lasts much longer. The drawback : my contacts are not sync'ed anymore.

    Please fix it.

    Outlook for Android 2.2.165 (266).

    When I enabled App Permissions under security, Outlook started to prompt me in an infinite loop to allow it to access contacts and whenever I gave the permission it asked again, so it looks, that if contacts sync is enabled Outlook keeps spamming the contact list with sync. I disabled the contact sync on my outlook account and it seems that cpu usage is now lower, and also some guy from another forum said that this fixed his battery draining issue. I hope this will fix it, otherwise I'll stop using it as well. Shame on you Microsoft -.-

    Solved:

    Since the last update which I did in March 2018, my battery had to be charged twice during the day at work and I keep all apps closed with data turned off.

    I had been using Outlook on my Samsung Galaxy S4 for a few years with 6 email accounts.

    After reading the posts here, I decided to uninstall Outlook.

    I updated Gmail and all my accounts are moved over.

    Wow! !!!

    My battery is back to normal even with data turned on all day.

    At the end of the day my phone was still at 60% instead of having to charge twice. Outlook also wiped out my contacts when I uninstalled it. I had to re-sync my contacts with my Google account.  Outlook sucks! Use any other email client.

    By the way, my phone is not running warm or hot.

    It's running cool like it should be.
