Using Classic Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
Confim same issue exactly. Such an important feature to be able to click the desktop alert and open the email. We are going backwards in productivity

Whilst using Windows 10 Pro, I am receiving notifications in the notification centre when I have received a new email in Outlook. However, when I click the email in the notification centre it does not open the email.
Please can you help sort this issue. Followed all other forums etc. and these have not helped solve my issue.

I have the exact same problem with the notifications and this definitely happened after an Office update. I want to say it was at the same time MS did the major change to the search box in Outlook. So really the broke two things that worked fine in one update. I mean the search still works, but it is just now much less efficient.
Funny how this thread started in 2019 and there were MS reps all over it, and at that time I think it was actually user/machine issues with the notifications. Now that MS broke it we aren't hearing a peep out of them.
I can't seem to find a work around. It was a very useful feature...and definitely happened after either a O365 or windows update (which happened around the same time)...uncertain which of them screwed it up.

I'm having the same problem. When I click on the email preview to open the message, it behaves as though I'd clicked "Dismiss" rather than opening the message as it should when I click the preview.
Really frustrated that Outlook has made so many simple things complex or impossible. From removing the option to change where Sent Items are placed to breaking this notification, it seems the only option that Microsoft has is to disable features.

Exactly the same. Worked fine now it doesn't.
Clicking the popup/notification now does nothing
Adjusted all the setting in Outlook and Notifications to no avail.
