Outlook calendar 'changes' appointment into a meeting after editing.

GB, many thanks for your update on Calendar glitch with Outlook.com. Are you aware of an unrelated problem (or solution) with Outlook.com mail? The problem occurs when using Apple’s Mail App to manage Outlook.com mail on iphone/ipad — items move into wrong folders. The Outlook.com Team originally wanted to try and roll back the change but it would have caused other issues.  Instead they developed a safe fix and it started being deployed late last week.  The team said it would take about three weeks to get to all of our accounts.  That timeline should have everyone getting the fix by the first week of July.

I checked my accounts and one is fixed and the other is not.  Below are the server versions I am tracking.

15.20.863.0 (does not have the fix yet)

15.20.871.0 (Fixed build)

15.20.913.0 (fix is working)

To check the server version do the following:

1.  Start Outlook

2.  Locate the System Tray at the bottom right of your screen next to the clock.

3.  Click the chevron to show the system tray application icons and locate the Outlook icon

4.  Press the Ctrl key and then right click the Outlook icon and click Connection Status

5.  In the Connection Status dialog drag to the right and locate the Version

Your case is similar though slightly worse. I have Office 365 subscription and ios - iphone and ipad - and I can edit events in Outlook 365 desktop provided they are not created in Outlook desktop in the first instance.

I don't have any problem with OneDrive for the moment - fingers crossed. I totally agree with you regarding updates but doubt very much MS will pay any attention to our complaints taking into account that tons of complaints have been written about this even in important influencing magazines and newspapers. Sometimes I got the feeling that they just don't care about problems caused to small businesses and people in general. To start with I find scary that MS can get into your pc and fiddle with it at its will. In any case I'll vote for your claim.

Appointments changing into Meetings recently became a problem for users of Outlook.com accounts and Microsoft Exchange users. It results from glitch with April 2018 update to Office. Workaround is to use Windows Calendar App (instead of Outlook 2016) to create appointments on PC.  Until glitch is fixed, Outlook 2016 can only be used to view or edit Appointments -- not create them. Outlook for iOS and Outlook for Android can be used to create or edit appointments. See following post for help using Windows 10 Calendar.

I pretty thoroughly tested your suggestion and found it to work great.  As long as I created the Appt. on my PC via Windows Calendar App, it remained an editable Appt on my Outlook for Android App on my phone.  As you probably know, once created this way, i could even go into the Appt via my PC Outlook, double-click open it, edit it, save, and then go back to my Android and it was still fine...

So the key to the workaround's effectiveness does seem to simply be AVOIDING the CREATION of the Appt in Outlook on one's PC.  And subsequent editing of the Appt. in Outlook did NOT make the Appt. corrupt then.

Hopefully MS will resolve this bug soon, so even this effective workaround is not necessary for too long.
