iPhone and Outlook 365 contacts not syncing

Good morning all -

I have an iPhone and Outlook 365.  I use the iPhone native contacts / calendar / email apps.  I use Outlook on my laptop.  I use a live.com account for my calendar and contacts.  I do not use the Outlook app on my phone.

When I make a calendar item it immediately syncs with my phone, regardless of whether I made the appointment on the phone or on the laptop in Outlook.

HOWEVER the same is not true with Contacts. 

  1. Contacts I make or edit in Outlook on my laptop sync right away in the phone.
  2. Existing contacts that are edited on the phone sync right away in Outlook.
  3. New contacts made in the phone do not sync.
  4. If I edit the new iPhone contact it still won't sync.

What is going on and how can I fix this?  This is happening on two phones in my family.

    Hi.  Thanks for the suggestion.  I don't have a Default Group setting but do see Default Account.  That was and always has been set to the account I am syncing with.  However, all of a sudden, the syncing is now happening without my changing anything.  See my response to everyone else at the bottom of this chain.

    I looked at this this morning but I am searching in all Outlook items.  But in the meantime, the syncing now just works.  No changes on my end, so maybe Apple or Microsoft somehow fixed this in their latest updates.  So for right now, things are working as I want.

    HOWEVER, dear Microsoft, please don't consider this closed until time elapses.  The others here have seen the same issue and we need to make sure they too are having it work.  And I need time to see if there may be some fluke here.  For instance, I had to run Outlook in safe mode earlier this week.  Not sure how that might affect things, but I just tried opening in normal mode, then editing a contact made on the iPhone and it updated instantly in Outlook.  Just tried making a new contact in the phone, and it was instantly in Outlook.

    So for, me this looks like it now magically (haha) works.

    I couldn't believe it, so I tested it (not the group setting).

    Worked for me today as well.

    Added contact on iPhone, showed up in my Outlook contacts.

    Speculation that a bug got fixed somewhere.

    I am still not having my contacts synced on my iphone.  The calendar is fixed but the contacts are still not.  Have you have any luck????

    No luck at all.  I won't even use my Outlook anymore.
