So it has been almost exactly four months since I first reported this issue. Today I have received numerous tickets regarding this problem, which tells me that the Semi-Annual/Deferred/whatever it is being called now update, that the majority of my users
are on, has just rolled out and included the update from Version 1711 (Build 8730.2127), originally released December 12th that created this problem in the first place.
I would like to know the status of the fix for this, because, while I have already communicated to all of my users to head off any more reports of the problem, I would like to know whether I just need to instruct my users to plan to never use the "Save All
Attachment" option again, or if there is a resolution in sight.
Iry Chen informed us on January 2nd, 2018, that the issue had been reported, yet no updates as to the status of a fix have been reported since then. Instead we are given band-aids and workarounds. On January 17th, a support article with workarounds was posted.
I worked in Software Development for 10 years before transitioning to IT Support, I understand bug-fixing is tedious and can take time. However four months is a ridiculous amount of time with no update as to a resolution. This tells me that we are more likely
to see the "Save All Attachments" option dropped as a whole before we see a resolution to this problem. Every response since mid-January has been a copy/paste response of the workarounds.
I understand that the responses we are getting are from support, not the development team, but if I allowed a issue that affected hundreds of the users I was to support (nevermind the arguably millions that Microsoft has a responsibility towards), and all I
offered were "workarounds" as opposed to a solution, I wouldn't expect to be employed much longer.
Though to be fair, when looking at the current known issues for Outlook listed here: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/fixes-or-workarounds-for-recent-issues-in-outlook-for-windows-ecf61305-f84f-4e13-bb73-95a214ac1230
I shouldn't be surprised at a lack of a resolution given the number of issues categorized as "Workaround". 17 workarounds as opposed to 11 Fixed issues.
