Outlook 2016 - Save Multiple Attachments not saving to Network Drives

I recently updated a user from Office 2010 to Office 2016 through Office 365, soon after the update, the user informed me that they were no longer able to use the "Save Multiple Attachments" feature in Outlook to save multiple attachments to a Network location.

This method can save files to a Local drive without an issue, but will not save to a Mapped Network folder. I have tested this on two other computers, both in a different environment, with the same results.

Files can be saved individually, even through the Save Multiple Attachments dialogue, it is only when attempting to save 2 or more files simultaneously. I'm hoping someone knows of a solution to this issue as this user can receive upwards of 10+ attachments in a single email for a project that they need to make available to a project folder.

They did not have this issue prior to the upgrade. Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated.

Hi Angela,

No, right now the issue is still being investigated and there are two workarounds described in the following article, you can keep monitoring it to get the latest update about it.

  1. Save the documents to your own computer, and then copy them to the shared network drive.
  2. Save the documents one at a time to the shared network drive.

I totally understand the inconvenience this thing may cause you. Our related team are currently working on this issue. As workarounds, you can save the attachments one by one or revert to an earlier version. Your time and understanding will be highly appreciated.

    March 5th and still no fix. Whole company affected, and many headaches as a result of daily complaints. Added to the ridiculous Onedrive issues over the last couple of months -where documents were being lost, because they were not being saved; although word etc. said they were- (we switched to Dropbox - perfect); Microsoft has downed my Company's productivity almost systematically, over the last few months  The laughable aspect is that this issue arises with Dropbox and even Onedrive (my main company folder was Onedrive, so all devices synced automatically, and was part of SharePoint implementation; also laughable as a cloud solution).  Where's the consistent approach to Windows updates? It really does seem a random approach to desperately releasing updates which are beta at best. This is on top of Windows 10 messing up so many machines; despite claiming they were suitable for upgrade. So much time wasted for a small, busy company.

    I'm sorry, but when a company spends a lot of money on Microsoft products; there's a reasonable expectation for basic features to work, and if bugs do appear; then they will be attended to and resolved quickly; not several weeks/ months, especially when they seem so simple on the face of it. Copy and paste responses just don't cut it in the 21st century.

    But with the new update, Word will now help us create a Resume for LinkedIn????  That's their priority.  Microsoft Office is moving away from Office work and productivity.  Examples are this Save All Attachment issue being ignored, AutoSave only working with OneDrive or Sharepoint (yeah because we all want sensitive documents automatically saved to the OneDrive), Track Changes (a big feature for office workers) is outdated and unproductive; years everyone has asked that we have the option to permanently stop tracking formatting and to have the comments work better and have numbers on the list that one can print out; etc., etc., etc.   But all of the updates have been new useless features and self promotions.  I really wish there was a viable Office program that really catered to Office production.
