Outlook 2016 - Save Multiple Attachments not saving to Network Drives

I recently updated a user from Office 2010 to Office 2016 through Office 365, soon after the update, the user informed me that they were no longer able to use the "Save Multiple Attachments" feature in Outlook to save multiple attachments to a Network location.

This method can save files to a Local drive without an issue, but will not save to a Mapped Network folder. I have tested this on two other computers, both in a different environment, with the same results.

Files can be saved individually, even through the Save Multiple Attachments dialogue, it is only when attempting to save 2 or more files simultaneously. I'm hoping someone knows of a solution to this issue as this user can receive upwards of 10+ attachments in a single email for a project that they need to make available to a project folder.

They did not have this issue prior to the upgrade. Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated.

Hi Angela,

No, right now the issue is still being investigated and there are two workarounds described in the following article, you can keep monitoring it to get the latest update about it.

  1. Save the documents to your own computer, and then copy them to the shared network drive.
  2. Save the documents one at a time to the shared network drive.

    Hi Jonathon,

Email messages that includes attachments can all be saved in Outlook 2016. Based on the information that you've provided, we'd like to ask a few questions for us to better assist you:

    • What is the error message that you're getting when trying to save multiple attachments in Outlook 2016?
    • Is the device managed by a domain or an organization? Are you using an Office 365 for Business?
    • Is the Mapped Network folder a SharePoint?

If you're using an Office 365 for Business or the device is being managed by a domain or an organization, we suggest that you contact our Business Support team which specializes in this platform.

If you're using Office 365 Home, then we suggest that you perform an online repair to fix the issue. To do this, click here and follow the steps provided. Please note that when you get the prompt, How would you like to repair your Office Programs, select Online Repair.

We'll keep an eye out for your response.

    Hello Joan,

    Thank you for your reply.

    • **What is the error message that you're getting when trying to save multiple attachments in Outlook 2016?**No error message is received. The Save dialogue box opens as expected, you navigate to the folder you wish to save to, click Save, the dialogue box closes, but the files are never saved in their destination.
    • **Is the device managed by a domain or an organization? Are you using an Office 365 for Business?**All three devices I tested are managed by a domain, however users have administrative rights to their device. Two of the devices are on the same Server 2008 R2 Domain, the third is my device which is on a separate 2012 R2 Domain. Yes, we are using Office 365 for Business. I tested the same feature back at my main office, so different environment, this morning with the same results of multiple files not being saved to Mapped Drives, but singular files working fine. In my case, there have been no previously uninstalled installations of Office that may have interfered, as I thought that may have been part of the issue.
    • **Is the Mapped Network folder a SharePoint?**The Mapped Network folder is not on Sharepoint, it is hosted on a local server. Saving to it with a single file works fine, only when attempting to save multiple attachments. I also attempted using Domain Administrator credentials for the access with no change in behavior.
