Cannot Preview PDF attachments in Outlook Web Access

We have Exchange on O365 and User desktops of Outlook 2016.  Some users have Outlook on their mobile phones also.

We can preview PDF files in Outlook emails on the Desktop Outlook and on mobile phone with outlook.

We cannot preview PDF files in Outlook on the web browser.  We can preview office files but PDF files display a blank grey page.  

We can download PDF files to onedrive and open and view them from onedrive.   

  1. Should we be able to preview PDF files in Outlook on the Web Browser?
  2. Can this be enabled to work?

    Hi Barry and thank you for your efforts on this question. 

    Yes, Edge was the default browser on my Win10 laptop. 

    I switched it to IE11 and it still has the same issue.  in IE it displays a grey preview window when previewing the PDF File.  (I get the same behavior on my Win7 PC with IE11.)

    OS Name:                   Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise

    OS Version:                10.0.16299 N/A Build 16299 

    I can save the file to my onedrive and open it without issue on both Win10 and Win7 using both IE and Edge.

    Hello BuckyBear3819,

    According to all information we collected, we think the problem is not related to the Office 365 side.

    If you right click on a PDF file on your computer and select open with Internet Explorer, will you encounter the same issue?

    We need a sample file of the PDF file for test. Please remove the privacy and send us a sample file in private message for analysis. Your cooperation is highly appreciated.

    Sorry Barry, I was out yesterday at another site.

    Here is what I see in Win7 with IE11.  i asked to preview the pdf and it shows a grey space where the PDF should display.  If i right click on the PDF file it only shows the Preview and Save to OneDrive options.

    how do i attach the PDF file to this reply?
