Cannot Preview PDF attachments in Outlook Web Access

We have Exchange on O365 and User desktops of Outlook 2016.  Some users have Outlook on their mobile phones also.

We can preview PDF files in Outlook emails on the Desktop Outlook and on mobile phone with outlook.

We cannot preview PDF files in Outlook on the web browser.  We can preview office files but PDF files display a blank grey page.

We can download PDF files to onedrive and open and view them from onedrive.

  1. Should we be able to preview PDF files in Outlook on the Web Browser?
  2. Can this be enabled to work?

Thank you!

    Hi BuckyBear3819,

    Thanks for your update.

We think that the problem may be related to the PDF file. We will give you a sample file in private message. Please check if the problem persists in your tenant.

Meanwhile, we’d like to know more details about your situation. Can you open other types of attachments in the affected tenant? For example, Word, JPEG?

Also, please tell us your current OWA version.

    Regards,

    Barry

Hi Barry, No luck.  It still won't display the pdf docs in IE11.  I haven't tried the other browsers.

    Hello BuckyBear3819,

I got some suggestions from my colleagues. Please kindly refer to the below steps and check if it helps:

    1. The browsers you mentioned are not the latest version. Please update the browser to the latest version and check if it helps.
    2. Clear the outlookapps.com cache in IE 11 browser:

    1. In IE 11 browser, check if the status code shows 200 and the parameters “isDocumentPreivew” set to True (Press F12 to see this interface).

    1. In IE 11, Check the add-on: click Setting > Manage Add-ons. Remove the Adobe PDF Reader and install it again if possible.

    1. Don’t choose the Automatically block.

    Regards,

    Barry
