Can't edit the notes in Contacts in Outlook 365

Hello,

I have the strange behaviour that I can't edit some of mine existing notes in my Contacts.

I have several existing contacts (View = Card but I dont think it matters, because in other view it also won't work) with some notes, sometimes I can edit the notes in a contact and there are other Contacts where I can't edit the notes. All the other fields I can edit.

Any idea what to do?

We posted a known issue article to track status, https://support.office.com/en-us/article/can-t-edit-the-notes-field-for-a-contact-fb8394ce-04ce-48b5-bae4-be46f77f10fe?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US.  

The Outlook Team found the root cause of the issue.  It has to do with the way Outlook handles that field if the contact has the PR_TRANSPORT_MESSAGE_HEADERS property.  The only workaround for existing contacts today is to use MFCMAPIto remove the PR_TRANSPORT_MESSAGE_HEADERS property.

As part of the investigation the product team is trying to understand what could be setting that property.  Maybe it is an add-in or other solution.  If anyone sees the message header being added and knows what it setting it please let me know.

    Thank you Gabriel Bratton for this fix. I downloaded and installed the Outlook Spy app and was able to remove the offending property. Now what I saw when I inspected the property may or may not be of help to you. I am going to share it in case it is of any help getting to the bottom of this. We used to use Vipre Antivirus and it seems it may have been the culprit in my case but you will know better than I as I am no coding guru.

    I too am having this same problem, since the January 2019 update.

    It seems to me that it may relate to contacts that have been brought forwards over a number of years, that came from older (stand alone) versions of Outlook.

    It would be good for M/S to quickly solve this issue.

    Please see the known issue topic that has some other suggested workarounds, https://support.office.com/en-us/article/unable-to-edit-contacts-appointments-meetings-or-tasks-within-outlook-fb8394ce-04ce-48b5-bae4-be46f77f10fe?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US.  I expect the fix for Outlook 2010 will go out in the May or June public updates.  Once we know for sure I'll update the known issue topic with the details.

    Howdy,

    I'm having this issue with Outlook 2010 as well only it is ALL of my contacts ... at least that I've tried to update.  Your "Answer" to use MFCMAPI is very vague and unhelpful.  What is this tool, how do you use it and how can it fix my problem.  Do I have to apply it to each contact?  I have 759 ... that's not gonna work for me.  This has been a problem since sometime in January.  Please update with a better resolution.
