It eventually dawned on me the icloud.com email address has the

2-step verification process by default now. To resolve issue go to this url https://appleid.apple.com/signin and login your with your apple id/icloud account. Look for a place to "Generate an APP specific key code"  Fill in the name of just for your reference for example outlook and press key to continue. A key code will be generated that looks like   rtve-xxxg-letm-einr  .    This time when following the procedure for this thread put the key that was generated in place of your password.

Hi Jason Beauchamp,

Thanks for your post.

If you want to add your iCloud email account to Outlook client, please make sure you get the latest version of Outlook at first, then follow the steps bellow:

  • Open the Microsoft Outlook program on your computer;
  • Tap on the File menu;
  • From the File menu, go to Info>Add Account;
  • On the Add Account wizard, click on the tick button for Manual setup or additional server types;
  • Choose the Pop or IMAP service;
  • Enter your Name and your iCloud email address;
  • In the Account Type, choose IMAP;
  • In the Incoming mail server, input:  imap.mail.me.com;
  • In the Outgoing mail server, input: smtp.mail.me.com;
  • In the Logon Information, input your iCloud username and password. You do not need to put the suffix, @icloud.com on your username. However, if there is an error encountered, try to put your full email address and see if it fixes the problem;
  • Put a check mark on Remember password and Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA);
  • Click on More Settings;
  • On the General tab, input the name of your account. You can choose any name that you want as this tab does not affect the connection in any way;
  • On the Outgoing Server tab, put a check mark on My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication;
  • Still on the Outgoing Server tab, click on the tick mark for Use same settings as my incoming mail server;
  • On the Advanced tab, enter 993 on Incoming server (IMAP) then choose an SSLconnection from the drop-down box;
  • Still on the Advanced tab, enter 587 on Outgoing server (SMTP) then choose Autoconnection from the drop-down box. Leave every other options as they are;
  • Click on OK when you are done;
  • Tap on Next to test the settings and configurations;
  • The test will show a completed incoming and outgoing test. Tap on Close;
  • You are all set. Tap on the Finish button.

Please carefully check the steps above, if you have any other concerns about using Office 365, please let us know, we’d like to offer our further help.

Regards,

Jason

    I don't believe you can install or repair iCloud directly in your Outlook application, at least not any more.  I got this from the Microsoft help desk for Office 365:

    1. If you don't have iCloud for Windows, download it here:

    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204283

    1. If you have your iCloud mail account in Outlook, and it stopped working delete it: File/account settings/account settings/highlight iCloud account and then delete. Don't worry, it will all come back. Then close the Outlook application.
    2. Sign out of iCloud for Windows if the app is open. Let it delete the iCloud data. Don't worry, it will all come back at step 4.  At this point I had to reboot two of my four Windows 10 computers for complete success, so I recommend rebooting.
    3. Open iCloud for Windows if it's not open and sign back in with your regular Apple ID and password.  Chose whether you want your iCloud photo backups to stream to your PC. Click Apply.

    5.  Open the Outlook application and check:  your email account, calendar, contacts and tasks should all be in the Outlook application. Simple, elegant, easy.

    I never authorized two-factor authentication for Apple.  Actually I did but opted out of it when I realized  how difficult it would make my life  with four windows computers and three Apple devices, so I did not have that issue. But I think all you have to use with iCloud for Windows is your simple Apple password since it's an Apple program.

    Now for bonus points, if you need to change a password for a non-Apple mail account in Outlook, do this (also courtesy of the Microsoft Outlook 365 help brigade):

    1. Open the Control Panel.
    2. Search for Mail.
    3. Double click on Outlook (Microsoft Outlook 2016)
    4. Click on Email Accounts.
    5. Highlight and double click on the account you want to change (for eg. Comcast.net). Do NOT use change or repair.  Then just highlight and change the password field. Close and you are all done.

    Good luck, and report back if it works.

    I followed all the above steps and I get a message that SMTP could not connect to server.  I deleted account and re-installed and still get the same message.  This has gone on for 2 days.  however, for some unknown reason, it did send 2 emails this afternoon and then went back to not being able to send rather puts it in the icloud outgoing mail folder and it just sits there.  Any help suggestions would be appreciated.  Thanks.
