Running Outlook on the iMac causes the screen to flicker and eventually black out and reduce to half/split screen display.

If I don't run the Outlook app the Mac runs like clockwork.

With Outlook active, at some point the flickering begins and then gets progressively worse until the screen is completed fuzzed or it pops back to a half black screen (which continues to flicker intermittently - more often than not)

Whilst it sounds like a hardware issue (and I've ordered a new Mac thinking it was!) it appears to be tied to Outlook.

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015)

3.3 GHz Intel Core i5

8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3

AMD Radeon R9 M395 2048 MB

Mac OS 10.14.1 (18B75)

Outlook 16.19

Rebooting seems to clear it until we run Outlook again, then the cycle continues.

    IMHO, buying a new iMac is a waste of money simply due to having to run Outlook in low-resolution. The loaded i7 late 2015 iMacs in my department are still really nice.

    When I was trying to source the problem (which I spent way too much time on), I took one iMac home when I was checking any issues with power or network interference, and wow, I could have kept it! They're super fast with a beautiful display. Great thing about Macs is how long the last! I actually only budget to replace Macs in my department every 5-6 years.

    Another option, if you have a Mircosoft account, you can still use Outlook webmail. Their webmail is better then it use to be. Login: https://outlook.office365.com.

    That's the same advise I gave my user, to use web mail.

    Odd thing:

    We have 8x late 2015 iMAC. One of those devices was purchased one year after the others. That's the one that is having this problem!

    Something was changed in this later production batch.

    I am hoping this update will resolve our issue.

    macOS 10.14.6

    This update:

    • Makes downloaded issues available in the My Magazines section of Apple News+, both online and offline.
    • Adds all publications in Apple News+, including newspapers, to the catalog at the top of the News+ feed.
    • Adds the ability to clear downloaded magazine issues in Apple News+ by choosing History > Clear > Clear All.

    • Resolves an issue that may cause a hang during a restart.
