Running Outlook on the iMac causes the screen to flicker and eventually black out and reduce to half/split screen display.

If I don't run the Outlook app the Mac runs like clockwork.

With Outlook active, at some point the flickering begins and then gets progressively worse until the screen is completed fuzzed or it pops back to a half black screen (which continues to flicker intermittently - more often than not)

Whilst it sounds like a hardware issue (and I've ordered a new Mac thinking it was!) it appears to be tied to Outlook.

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015)

3.3 GHz Intel Core i5

8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3

AMD Radeon R9 M395 2048 MB

Mac OS 10.14.1 (18B75)

Outlook 16.19

Rebooting seems to clear it until we run Outlook again, then the cycle continues.

    That’s wonderful of Microsoft, being that for me that their June 11^th^update started this problem and has cost me a lot of time in sourcing the problem that they created. One of the two “late 2015” iMacs in my department was purchased in 2016, and in no way is either of them out of date, and both are still fully supported by Apple.

    That’s really unacceptable for a Microsoft to create a problem and then say tough luck as it only affects some users!

    Also, why ever would Microsoft or anyone have an option to run a program in low-resolution, unless they knew of a protentional issue with their software and put that option in? I can’t think of any user that would select that option?

    Run outlook in low resolution mode, Microsoft have told me that they are not going to fix this as it only effects late 2015 IMACs.

    Hi There..

    Has anyone managed to resolve this issue.. My Mac Retina has being doing this for several months and its becoming such a pain..

    Hi,

    The only workaround I have found at the moment is to run outlook in low resolution mode. It's not ideal, especially on such a large screen, but it does seem to stop the flickering...at least so far.
