Using older versions of Outlook for Mac for personal email and calendar

Running Outlook on the iMac causes the screen to flicker and eventually black out and reduce to half/split screen display.
If I don't run the Outlook app the Mac runs like clockwork.
With Outlook active, at some point the flickering begins and then gets progressively worse until the screen is completed fuzzed or it pops back to a half black screen (which continues to flicker intermittently - more often than not)
Whilst it sounds like a hardware issue (and I've ordered a new Mac thinking it was!) it appears to be tied to Outlook.
iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015)
3.3 GHz Intel Core i5
8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3
AMD Radeon R9 M395 2048 MB
Mac OS 10.14.1 (18B75)
Outlook 16.19
Rebooting seems to clear it until we run Outlook again, then the cycle continues.

Hi! I spent a lot of time w/Apple Support and they directed me here. Having the same problem w/my iMac 27". This started after the update sent through from Microsoft on about 5/17/19. I've used Outlook for years and not happy to switch but will have to if they don't fix this. Basically I have to quit Outlook after I view my mail which is really a pain. If I don't keep it open, then my computer behaves just fine.
Since I "rent" MS Office annually, don't know how to go back to version 16.23 which I understand is more stable. Does anyone know? Thanks.
Not an expert ,but think you can go here ......
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdates/update-history-office-for-mac
First move your current version of Outlook from Applications to Trash .(do not delete until you are sure 16.23 is there and works .)
Good luck !

Not only is this a problem of user experience, it’s a health issue in my view so I suggest this is dealt with very urgently or some kind of warning is published.
No chance. Microsoft is a horrible customer unfriendly company. I tried to contact them directly and via Twitter. They didn't even replied.
I have come to this conversation due to having the same issue. I have the same hardware as others in this thread and I think it has been obvious that this is a software bug for a long time.
One thing I would like to point out is that, in my experience, the screen flickering happens without any warning and does not relate to any particular action or set of actions. It is also quite dramatic so I wonder if Microsoft has considered the potential risk to people who may be adversely affected by flashing images?
