I am using Outlook 365 1909 (Build 12026.20320) Monthly Channel. The Sun and Moon button was available in message's toolbar in Outlook for several days and now it is gone. No policies have been changed and system is restarted every evening. Microsoft Windows Version 1903 (18362.388) x64.

The Outlook Team currently has the Sun/Moon feature enabled in Monthly Channel Production at 10% of users. It was enabled at a higher percent earlier until a bug was found. The team wants to fix that bug before it gets turned back on for everyone. If I can get an ETA on the rollout I'll post back with that status.

I experienced the same dark mode problem. May we know whether dark mode in outlook (with sun/moon button) is a beta feature or released feature?
If this is a released feature, why sun/moon feature is enabled in only 10% users ?
If this is in beta testing, why it is released in monthly production update?
Same here, I was very very happy with the dark mode and FINALLY the dark background on reading and writing messages.
Now I got a new work laptop and the white background is there, without a sun/moon button!
There was a change, since the reader toolbar is now at the right of the message.
Windows has never been great at customisation and it's taken years to get a decent dark mode, but removing options making it worse is just insane.
...because currently our related teams are working on this feature to updating the entire feature. I am also monitoring this thing from my side for feature update. If once I have getting any update about this feature, I will surely post back here. For future update, I will also monitor this feature in this monthly channel.

OK so, I'm on 1909, and still no sun/moon button, despite it being flagged in the release notes as release, I want to say 2 versions previously?
Also, on the Microsoft Office Roadmap page this functionality has moved from "rolling out" to "launched", which suggests that it's not still in testing.

Aside from wanting this functionality to be released as promised, my concern is this... the release notes for the last 2-3 versions of Office 365 are clearly not accurate or complete. They specifically state functionality which is not present in my installation - so, where are the release notes that apply to me?
How can I be sure that the security patches and software fixes that I think I have are actually installed, if the release notes aren't accurate? This is critical for me to maintain security compliance, so what do I do if the release notes don't reflect reality?

Thank you for your reply. Regarding this sun/moon button, I have also same Monthly Channel in Outlook desktop client. Currently, I could not see this button in my Monthly Channel in Outlook desktop client.
But, as per my above mentioned reply, we can use this feature in Outlook web app as a workaround.
Also, one possible reason may be that it will be shown in the Outlook desktop client Monthly channel for a few days for testing because currently our related teams are working on this feature to updating the entire feature. I am also monitoring this thing from my side for feature update. If once I have getting any update about this feature, I will surely post back here. For future update, I will also monitor this feature in this monthly channel.
