I am using Outlook 365 1909 (Build 12026.20320) Monthly Channel. The Sun and Moon button was available in message's toolbar in Outlook for several days and now it is gone. No policies have been changed and system is restarted every evening. Microsoft Windows Version 1903 (18362.388) x64.

Hi all,
The Outlook Team currently has the Sun/Moon feature enabled in Monthly Channel Production at 10% of users. It was enabled at a higher percent earlier until a bug was found. The team wants to fix that bug before it gets turned back on for everyone. If I can get an ETA on the rollout I'll post back with that status.

I experienced the same dark mode problem. May we know whether dark mode in outlook (with sun/moon button) is a beta feature or released feature?
If this is a released feature, why sun/moon feature is enabled in only 10% users ?
If this is in beta testing, why it is released in monthly production update?
From what I can tell the Sun/Moon feature is enabled 100% for Monthly Channel. If you click File, Office Account, under About Outlook what Build and Channel do you have?
If you are on Semi Annual Channel there are steps documented here to switch to Monthly Channel, https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/office365/troubleshoot/administration/switch-channel-for-office-365.
The earliest the feature would get to Semi Annual is likely July next year per channel updates page, https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/DeployOffice/overview-of-update-channels-for-office-365-proplus.
Excellent update, thank you Gabriel Bratton! I followed your guidelines and it worked like a charm, and I also learned something new about the semi-annual and monthly updates.
This is bizarre. I updated to some build of 1909 a couple weeks ago after setting the updates to the monthly channel. I didn't initially have the sun/moon button. Then a week later I checked updates and it got me to 12026.20320 and now I have the button. My friend just got on the monthly channel and updated today to 12026.20334 and he has no button. Is the existence of the button even related to build? Why is this so mysterious? If you have the black theme on, and Win10 in dark mode, it's absolutely ridiculous to have a white background reading pane in Outlook.
