Can't edit contact details in Outlook Live

Since Microsoft "upgraded" Outlook Live a month or so ago, I've had problems editing details, such as email addresses and phone numbers, for people in my Contacts list. For instance, one contact's first name, last name, personal email, cell phone and two home phone numbers are editable: if I wanted to, I could put my cursor in the box and delete or type over them. But for some reason, the business number, which is no longer valid since the person is no longer employed, can't be deleted. The box is grayed out, and when I try to highlight the number with my mouse in order to delete it, the mouse doesn't work. This is true for other contacts in my list as well. Has anyone else had this baffling and frustrating problem?

outlook.com has recently dropped the ability to edit a distribution list on the fly for individual messages. the dist list name used to present a + sign in front of the list name. the + sign allowed you to modify the list for only that particular email.

right click viewing and editing looks like you'd change the original official list permanently; not what is needed for this temporary, one off mod that is needed so frequently.

the beta version has kept the + functionality but the mainstream version has dropped it.

this functionalty needs to be returned as it is very useful. this change to functionality occurs with all the different browsers I use.

Not sure if it is the same because I use Outlook 2016 desktop software but I was having the same prob where I could not edit the contact card once it was made.

Solution:

Outlook 2016: Try clicking on the "View Source" on the right side of the abbreviated contact form. This opened the full contact form like when you first added them and I could edit from there just like you could before. Why do they have to make things so complicated with their 'improvements'?!

I have the same issue. I love that Microsoft folks just ask more question. On my desktop, outlook live, people can not be edited.Old emails just appear in gray (they reference recent email) and can not be changed. Can you please provide some answers ... Hello Microsoft.

Same issues here. I'm a long-time Microsoft mail user and I use my outlook.com contacts list as my single master list of personal contacts, it is not linked to any social media or any other accounts, aside from the unavoidable being linked to Skype fiasco.

Certain contacts cannot be edited or removed at all as they are being pulled from my Skype contacts, and sometimes removing them from Skype works.

Certain contacts have common fields like Email and Phone that are not editable, greyed out and show 'recently emailed' underneath those fields. This is pretty frustrating stuff, you'd think in general that major production email software platforms would move forward as the years pass, not backward. Why on earth would I not be able to edit and control a contact that I created?
