Can't edit contact details in Outlook Live

Since Microsoft "upgraded" Outlook Live a month or so ago, I've had problems editing details, such as email addresses and phone numbers, for people in my Contacts list. For instance, one contact's first name, last name, personal email, cell phone and two home phone numbers are editable: if I wanted to, I could put my cursor in the box and delete or type over them. But for some reason, the business number, which is no longer valid since the person is no longer employed, can't be deleted. The box is grayed out, and when I try to highlight the number with my mouse in order to delete it, the mouse doesn't work. This is true for other contacts in my list as well. Has anyone else had this baffling and frustrating problem?

    I am using People live on my desktop which syncs to phones and IPad. Trying to edit a contact is crazy or eliminate a dup. How can we unlink. I think all of the problems are linked contacts. Skype and facebook are the villians. How can I unlink and then erase a gray person.

    I am having the same issue of not being able to just update a contact with new contact information.  I was able to add the new information but Outlook Contacts retained the old information which is INVALID.  I ended up having to delete the entire contact and re-enter it just to have current information at my fingertips.  

    • Do you get any error message when you try to edit the contact details?   NO ERROR MESSASGES
    • How exactly are you trying to access your contacts? Is it through People app (Desktop) or through a web based interface (https://people.live.com)?   USING A DESKTOP
    • Are the contact that you are trying to edit linked to any social account? NOT LINKED TO ANY SOCIAL MEDIA, THIS ACCOUNT IS FOR BUSINESS PURPOSES ONLY
    • Is the issue specific to a particular contact?  NO, IT IS NOT ISOLATED TO A SPECIFIC CONTACT.

    Please advise.

    Agree so much with all of the above. Microsoft obviously are just not listening to their customers. I've tried "unlinking" as much as I can but rogue addresses still refuse to be deleted. If I could, I'd ditch Outlook all together but will cause even more grief. Just wish Microsoft would fix it. Bill Gates are you listening?

    This is really a prime example of some of the worst programming from Microsoft.

    1. Office365 has created contacts in 'People' that are a mixture of people whom I have corresponded with.  The email for one person is listed that name of another.
    2. The same contact name will show up 2, 4, 8 times for no apparent reason.
    3. There is not want to delete these errors.
    4. Very difficult to get to an edit screen, when I did, the edits do not take effect.
    5. One contact, who I have corresponded with many times over the last two years now has a new name created by Office365.
    6. Outlook email search, the desktop program, due to the recent update can no longer find any email when I do a search.  The search results are "we are done searching..."  found nothing, yet I see emails form this person on my mail page.
    7. I could start listing the issues with having a registered domain in office 365 and all the issues that this creates when users also have personal Microsoft Live accounts.  But I don't have the time or patience.

    Bottom line.  Someone needs to be fired.  Microsoft should apologize for all the time lost and frustration they have caused.  Then they need to fix the problem
