Calendar event showing up the wrong timezone

Hi there, I refer to the screenshots below. The user, Pamela, sends out a calendar invite to both Jeff and Kok Guan, specifying the correct timezone UTC +0800. However, what Jeff views this event on his Mac running on Yosemite 10.10.2 is the UTC +0000 timezone, Monrovia, Reykjavik. The time indicated is displayed 6am instead of the actual 2pm, despite showing a notification that the event will commence at 2pm on Jeff's Mac. How do i go about correcting/removing the UTC +0000, Monrovia, Reykjavik, timezone stamp. Appreciate some help with this. Thanks!

Regards

Kenny

Unfortunately, the server update won't fix existing meetings automatically.  However, users MAY be able to fix it themselves if they find the original meeting invitation (could be in Deleted Items) and re-accept the meeting(s) with the "UTC" time zones.  (Let us know if that works.)

If that doesn't work, they will have to ask the organizer to re-send the invitation.  (Organizer just has to open the meeting on his/her calendar and click "Send Update." Make sure to "Edit Series" if it is a recurring meeting.)

After working with John it turns out that the person who was creating the invitation was on an older version of exchange server with an on prem installation. They were still on Exchange 2010, and the forwarding party was using an android device to forward the invitation.

While my exchange server is up to date and using an o365 online version due to the organizer being out of date the issue occurred still. Thanks again for the help with resolving this issue and for the time spent in troubleshooting with me.

    Patrick,

Who is forwarding the meeting?  Are those your users on O365?  Or was it forwarded by the on-prem user? Before the meeting is forwarded, is the time zone correct in Mac Outlook?  Please fill in/correct my understanding of the scenario below:

Organizer creates a meeting using on-prem Exchange with Windows Outlook (are you able to get version number of the on-prem Exchange server?)

Recipient on O365/Mac accepts (is the the time zone correct?)

    Someone (who?) forwards meeting invite

Recipient of forwarded invite (on O365/Mac) sees time zone reset to UTC +0000

Who is forwarding the meeting? - The meeting creator is forwarding it instead of editing it

The meeting creator is the on prem user

Before it is forwarded it is showing in the correct time zone on their end (windows).

After it is forwarded, it shows up correct for them but any of the mac recipients show the UTC 0000 time zone.

    Edited your workflow

Organizer creates a meeting using on-prem Exchange with Windows Outlook (are you able to get version number of the on-prem Exchange server?) (Can't get exchange version, he is unable to provide readily)

Initial recipients accept, unsure if on mac or not, they would be employees on the same onprem server as the organizer is (is the the time zone correct?) (Time zone correct)

Organizer forwards the invite to us (on O365/Mac)

Recipient of forwarded invite (on O365/Mac) sees time zone reset to UTC +0000

If the recipients go to browser version of O365 it works correct, its just the O365/Mac client with the issue.

    Patrick,

Can you confirm that all users involved are on O365/Exchange Online server (and not on-prem)? Were there any other devices or OSes involved in the invite/forward/accept flow? The reset of time zone to UTC +0000 in the past was due to mobile devices (using EAS) not sending any time zone information to the server.  The bug manifested itself in EWS (which Mac Outlook uses, but not OWA).  That bug was fixed in O365 and Exchange 2013 or later.  If all your users are on Exchange Online then we would need to get more details to investigate.

    John,

The originator of the invite is not part of our company but I did reach out and they informed us they are using an on prem while we are on the exchange online office 365 setup. It was sent from a windows computer to a mac, no ios devices or mobile devices that we are aware of.
