Calendar event showing up the wrong timezone

Hi there, I refer to the screenshots below. The user, Pamela, sends out a calendar invite to both Jeff and Kok Guan, specifying the correct timezone UTC +0800. However, what Jeff views this event on his Mac running on Yosemite 10.10.2 is the UTC +0000 timezone, Monrovia, Reykjavik. The time indicated is displayed 6am instead of the actual 2pm, despite showing a notification that the event will commence at 2pm on Jeff's Mac. How do i go about correcting/removing the UTC +0000, Monrovia, Reykjavik, timezone stamp. Appreciate some help with this. Thanks!

Regards

Kenny

Unfortunately, the server update won't fix existing meetings automatically.  However, users MAY be able to fix it themselves if they find the original meeting invitation (could be in Deleted Items) and re-accept the meeting(s) with the "UTC" time zones.  (Let us know if that works.)

If that doesn't work, they will have to ask the organizer to re-send the invitation.  (Organizer just has to open the meeting on his/her calendar and click "Send Update." Make sure to "Edit Series" if it is a recurring meeting.)

Thanks all for your continued feedback.

Since there have been multiple issues with time zones, and different people are coming to this thread (and other related ones) at different times, let me try to summarize in one post.

    1. Issue:  Meetings created or modified on mobile device show "Chetumal" time zone in Outlook for Mac 2016.

    Solution: Update to 15.11.2.

    Note:

The update won't fix existing meetings that already exhibit the problem.  To correct existing meetings, please do the following:

    1. Go to calendar view
    2. In the left folder pane, right click on your calendar folder (typically your account name or "Calendar" one level below)
    3. Select "Properties" -> "General"
    4. Click "Empty Cache"
    5. Your calendar will clear, and your meetings will be downloaded again from the Exchange server.
    6. Issue: Meetings created or modified on mobile device show "UTC" or "Monrovia" time zone in Outlook for Mac 2016.

Solution: If you are using Exchange Online (O365), this should already be fixed and no action is required from you.  If you are using Exchange on-premise (i.e., Exchange is not hosted by Microsoft), your administrator will need to install the server fix when the next Cumulative Update comes out.  I do not have a date for that release, but it should be included in the next regular Microsoft Exchange Server updates.

    Note:

The server fix will not correct existing meetings with "UTC/Monrovia." The organizer will have to send out an updated meeting request once the server fix is in place.  The easiest way for the organizer to do this is to open the meeting on his/her calendar and send an update to attendees.

    1. Issue: All-day events are a day off in Outlook for Mac 2016.

Solution:  This is a side effect of issues 1 and/or 2. This should be resolved if you have both of the fixes for 1 and 2 above.  However, please read the notes since existing shifted events may not be fixed automatically.

For issues on reminders or non-time zone-related issues, please start a new thread elsewhere so we can keep this thread focused on time zone issues.

If you have updated to 15.11.2 AND you are on O365/Exchange Online AND you are still seeing time zone problems with NEW meetings, please post here, and we will troubleshoot. The time zone code was overhauled for Outlook for Mac 2016, and we are working diligently to stamp out all bugs as quickly as possible.

I have updated to the final release of Office for the Mac 2016, which is version 15.11.2 (150701), but I still have timezone issues with all day events like this one:

The event displays a day early and the details show a wrong timezone and both "all day event" ticket as well as a time (22:00). It shows fine on other devices:

And it did show fine using the old (before pre-release) Outlook version, but the 2016 installer cleared all other Outlook versions from my device, so that's not an option anymore.

    Tom,

so the time zone issue is gone for me now, but now I am seeing something else new :) If I create a new appointment/event on my iOS device, it assigns a 15 minute reminder to it in Outlook, even though when I look at the appointment on the iOS device there is definitely no reminder/alert set. Anyone else confirm this behavior? This feels like whack a mole :)

    Bruce
