Outlook automatically jumps to older emails

Hi,

The last version of Outlook for office 365 (for Mac) automatically jumps to older emails when I leave Outlook in the background. 

So far I could not find any pattern of how and when exactly it does so. But when returning to Outlook after having worked in other applications for some minutes, Outlook has already jumped and is showing a one or two months old email, meaning I have to manually go to the top of the list.

Any idea if it is possible to solve this issue in the current version or whether we will have to wait for an upgrade?

Hi all,

Please try the "Insiders Fast" 15.23 public update to see if this is still happening.  Go to "Help"->"Check for Updates" and opt in to the "Insiders Fast" program at the bottom to get the new update.  If you are on "Insiders Slow" or have not opted into a pre-release, then you will have to wait a few more days for the update.  We did make a change that we thought might fix the jumpiness, but haven't been able verify since we can't repro internally.

    Hi

    I've given up reading thru all the posts. The problem of outlook jumping down approx 1/3 of the window is consistently inconsistent. For instance, it jumped on the first 3 emails I opened and now, for the moment, is acting normal (not jumping) when I open an email.  And now it jumped again for one, and has stopped for 2. I haven't experienced it for a couple of weeks and it is back today.

    Our IT people can't figure it out. Outlook has been reinstalled.

    Is there a solution?

    I'm on a PC, sorted by date, newest on top. I detest sorting by conversations so I'm not doing that.

    I'm also having this problem on my PC running Outlook 2016 (16.0.7571.7095) 32-bit. This has been going on for some time and i cant figure out what it is!

    Turning off "Show in Groups" does not solve the problem in my case; the jumping continue.  I would regard that as a "Band-Aid" rether than a solution anyway.  "Show in Groups" is very useful and disabling it is not an acceptable solution in my opinion.

    MICROSOFT,PLEASE PAY SOME ATTENTION TO THIS AGGRAVATING BUG.

    I thought turning it off worked but it was only for one instance.

    It is definitely only happening to me when I change from any folder back into the INBOX folder and try to scroll using the scrollbar arrow up, down or clicking a point on the bar.  For example if I'm in the deleted folder and click back into the INBOX then click the either arrow, the focus will automatically select roughly the middle message on the scroll bar... If you are past that message in the list and repeat this it will not do it.  Only when in the upper probably 2/5 of the bar... I'm sorting by date with newest on top showing ALL messages.  Grouped by Date but no Conversation Mode...

    Sporadically when I delete a message from the INBOX it seems to simulate the same thing but I'm trying to replicate that.

    I have 5 other user accounts that show up on my folder tree that I manage and none of those have the issue when going from any folder back to their corresponding INBOX...

    So Microsoft... It's something about when refocusing on the Primary INBOX on Office365 Exchange with Outlook 2016 scrollbars don't understand how to take the current position and translate that to the starting position in the click... IDK... Just a geek!

    ***UPDATE*** It also happens when using the keyboard arrow keys as well as the scroll wheel on the mouse... so fix your starting position MS!

    Also, I'm on a PC so this really isn't exactly the same thing I came to find out... LOL
