Outlook automatically jumps to older emails

Hi,

The last version of Outlook for office 365 (for Mac) automatically jumps to older emails when I leave Outlook in the background.

So far I could not find any pattern of how and when exactly it does so. But when returning to Outlook after having worked in other applications for some minutes, Outlook has already jumped and is showing a one or two months old email, meaning I have to manually go to the top of the list.

Any idea if it is possible to solve this issue in the current version or whether we will have to wait for an upgrade?

Thanks in advance!

Hi all,

Please try the "Insiders Fast" 15.23 public update to see if this is still happening.  Go to "Help"->"Check for Updates" and opt in to the "Insiders Fast" program at the bottom to get the new update.  If you are on "Insiders Slow" or have not opted into a pre-release, then you will have to wait a few more days for the update.  We did make a change that we thought might fix the jumpiness, but haven't been able verify since we can't repro internally.

Based on your response, I cleaned out my inbox a couple of weeks ago to get it under 200 messages and I haven't experienced the jumping message bug since.

I guess it's good motivation to keep my inbox clear, but that's not always feasible. However, this knowledge does at least provide a helpful workaround!

pretty sure you're correct in that assessment. I had about 300 emails in my inbox this morning, and I've been dealing with this all day. Trying to get down under 200, once I get there, I'll see if it gets any better.

Still have the same problem too.   It is definitely related to the number of messages in your inbox and the magic number appears to be 200.   If you are under 200 (read or unread) then the problem doesn't occur.   Go above 200 and it happens virtually every time.    Definitely has to be a bug.

    Hello,

I am having this problem as well. When trying to view new emails if you click on an unread email (whether you press the down arrow or click automatically into another unread email) it will automatically scroll all the way down to a different date (mine for some reason is 3/7) and have to go all the way back to the top then it  repeats again. The mailbox view settings are set "by date" and "newest".  I can't seem to find the pattern since it's not scrolling to a similar subject or the same sender. I noticed this started happening after the "mentions" button was created in the inbox but that is empty.  Any idea how to fix this?
