Log out of Outlook on Android

Hey I don't know if this will still work for you but this is how I logged out successfully in September of 2018.  I haven't logged back into Outlook since on my phone.  Here I had the same problem today and was able to sign out of my outlook account by:

!.  Tap the calendar icon at the bottom of my android phone screen.

2. Tap the options icon next to the date in the upper left of the screen (3 horizontal bars).
3. Scroll down the drop down to the bottom and you will find a sign out option. 

It worked for me on my Samsung A8.

Microsoft seem oblivious to this huge security risk. Surely they can't be? So why hasn't this been fixed?

Is this real life? I just spent 20 minutes trying to figure out how to log out of the outlook app on my phone. I had to change my password per my company and now the app is not automatically getting the emails since i changed my password. I kept telling myself that there has to be a way to log out and log back in with my new password! I googled and it and I find out that it is not possible. Signing out of an email account should be the most basic feature to have on an app. What is wrong with Microsoft????

The question is how do you log out on your phone from outlook. The way it is now anyone who acquires my phone has open access to my emails and all my contacts.

I agree with  comments on this thread about it being a serious security risk using the outlook for android app if you cannot log off it. By contrast, to make this comment I have had to go through two step security on my desktop, which is password protected and located within a secure building. It just doesn't make any sense to have so little securiy on a sensitive mobile app and I have now deleted it from my phone. I think it is too risky to use.
