All my group members have disappeared. Is there a way to retrieve them?

The helpful idea of saving groups to a Word document was one I stored away in my mind.  I then thought of this workaround: I went to a hotmail folder where I'd saved emails with groups in them.  I was able to access all the names and email addresses in 5 of my groups--in this case, groups of people who'd signed up for my blogs.  I copied the contacts (about 200 of them) to a Word document for future use.  After deleting the old message content, I was able to re-use the original email with all groups on it and send it out with a new message. It worked!

All of my groups disappeared a few weeks ago.  I went through the trouble of rebuilding one of the groups only to have it disappear within a few days .  I tried to use their restore function, only a few useless contacts were restored. Can I get the old groups back and more importantly how can this be prevented going forward.

My contact groups disappeared from  both Outlook.com and my  Microsoft Office Outlook but point takendid back them up through O, I  did reinstate them in Office.

You seem to be referencing Office Outlook. This thread is about Outlook.com. Not the same thing.
