Outlook 2016 - chinese characters appearing in messages when replying/forwarding

I also have a similar problem. When replying or forwarding emails, Outlook sends a blank email to the person(s) it goes to and it is also blank in my sent items, all text is lost.  All the recipient receives in the text field is a strange Chinese type character such as these ( 皰냶ĝ, 뀐놎ĝ, 왐디ĝ )

Any help would be appreciated since I'm just an old retired guy who isn't very well versed in all that electronic stuff :-) Thank you

Interesting as these characters are different to the ones I get (which are very obscure Chinese dialect characters that would be known only to a specialist). My question really is whether this is all an indication of Chinese government monitoring of emails; not being paranoid, just recognising facts - anyone who has been in China, especially in Tibet or Sinkiang will know that the situation is worse than even imagined in George Orwell's 1984 and that their government is heavily engaged in spying on other countries.

Could it be that these add ins from anti virus / mail scanning software are somehow shafting the encoding??

I do not have a solution; I have the same problem, but only on my O365 account, working from home. Working on my corporate laptop with (presumably) accessing the same O365 account, the emails ALWAYS look normal. I use Outlook 2016 currently.

SUGGESTION: Attempt to open the email with the odd characters with a web browser.

I use the Move --> Actions --> View In Browser. For me the text looks perfectly normal in the browser, which leads me to believe it is a formatting error associated with my Outlook. In this scenario, I believe Outlook converts the email to a .mht file, stripping the offending formatting, rendering a normal output.

Other comments:

 - I have sent email replies that look perfectly normal as I type them. Then they are sent with the odd characters. They show in my Sent Items with the odd characters.

 - I have received attachments (Outlook messages attached to other Outlook messages) that have the odd characters. In some, the normal English shows up at the end for about 3 lines of text.

In all scenarios, my corporate laptop shows the emails as normal.

In my previous post, I mentioned how one message did not contain an http link.  I asked the sender of that message to describe the app/device she used to send the message to me.  She stated:  The email was sent through my gmail account from my Apple laptop, Chrome bring the browser. 

ElBurgo, does your problem occur when there are no http links?  Or, are the messages to which you're replying coming from an Apple/Chrome environment?  

I hope someone who knows how to fix this problem will chime in.....
