Outlook app on Android - "An Error Occurred" when trying to setup my account

Hello all,

Would appreciate your thoughts on the following situation:

I just installed the Outlook App on my Galaxy S5 phone (Android 6).

When I start it, I get prompted for an email address so I enter my work email (Office 365) and after a few seconds it looks like something comes up and then get dumped back to the "Get Started" screen with the most helpful error message in human history:

"An Error Occurred"

Wow! Where to begin?

I cannot make it past this screen to access any settings or options of any kind.

Guess what - the OWA app for Android works fine, but it doesn't have WEAR capability unlike the Outlook app.

Any suggestions/assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    You are Right, it doesn't work anymore.

    The day i posted this answer, it had worked, but a few days later the issue repeated itself and since then i am not able to set it up again.

    Btw, i too have a sephora.com email with an android device (OP 3T).

    What i can suggest is to use an app called Aqua mail. It may not be as good as outlook but at least it works.

    Wow 3 years later I am still having the same issue and the suggestions are not working! Another proof how microsoft sucks. I am taking your advise to get my new work email through Aqua - it works and thank you.

    The problem started for me and other colleagues after the implementation of the Multi-Factor Authentication through the Authenticator App.

    Here is what worked for me. I was able to fix the issue on my own phone (Tecno canon 11) and my supervisor's one (Huawei Y9s).

    1/ Disabled the Microsoft Authenticator App battery optimization option

    2/ Installed MS Word from the App store

    3/ Logged in from MS Word with my corporate e-mail address (with success)

    4/ Logged in from Outlook with the same corporate e-mail (with success.

    I am having a similar issue. I am trying to install Iutlook 365 for Android on my Google Pixel 2. I keep getting an error occurred when adding this account. Can someone assist me.

    I simply solved it with removing Microsoft Authenticator.  I made the authentication via mobile phone.
